um make sure all your files are not read only. and dont ignore, as if it does not update the files, which it was not doing because you were ignoring, then you cant play.

also i made the changes to this, and yeah faster kinda, when its syncin the files it takes quite a while. and it probably shouldnt. now while my computer is not the latest, its still 2ghz. and should not take as long as it is.

although ill leave it going, my mate started it at the same time as me and is on 35%. and im at 5% which is not cool.

but yeah must be a problem at my end.

Hmmm, it\'s not the download that is annoying, it\'s that it has to sync the damn zips. In the future, I\'d really wanna see the updates in bigger files than small zips that needs to sync.

Is there another way to get by all that crap?

Norton AntiVirus shouldn\'t really affect speeds I believe, though you can certainly try with it off. Sometimes the speeds stay the same as with the default update server, and sometimes they speed up. There is really no other alternative - try to leave the computer on for as long as you can, and do something else while waiting :)

Argh I\'m updating to 0.3.12 with this new repository and it\'s still slow...

Using updater version 1.0.2.7, and it looks like it is using the \"fix\" listed at the begining of this thread.

I am getting between 2 and 7 KB/s on a dsl connection that normally dl\'s at 180+ KB/s.

Ah, feels like the good ol\' days of dialup  :)

Edit:  AUGHHH!  I just came back to check the updater....
I am on trepor.cal3d  supposedly a 2kb file and supposedly downloading at 6kb/s...and it is goin on over two minutes to get this thing.   4 seconds to get 1% point on the download.

Err.. how do I post again? ... Oh!

Regarding the very very slow update using the fix, I just experienced the same thing. As I experiment I changed it back to the original server. It seems to he going much faster now. Maybe the addresses were swapped?

EDIT: I used the \"Downloading Registry\" to check the speed.

Gah...Can someone give me the original updater XML line (with the laanx updater server, not the solone one), I accidently erased an important line, and now I can\'t update at all :|

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it...Maybe I\'m smarter with computers then I thought o.O

I am sad. I switched to Solone, and whale it is faster, my T1 wants more speed.  I think that switching to a bit torrent-esk updater system would be sweet.  The updater makes me angry when I\'m downloading ISO\'s at 30Mb/sec and the updater is puttering along at 4k/sec, there has to be something that can be done about it.

I\'ve got the newly updated updater build, and changed the active mirror to \"2\" instead of \"1\", gives about 100kb/s, (against my average with 600 or way more, but hey, it\'s way better then 2kb/s.)

First time poster here... my brother installed it at his house, and started the updater, and like you have all said, d/l speed is around 2kb/s... so I go home, with the program on my thumb drive, install it... and I\'m also getting the same 2kb/s. The difference? I have Norton A/V, and he doesn\'t... so so much for the Norton question.

Hope this game rocks as much as it looks.

The new version of the updater ( 1.0.2.7 ) is already using the fix.

The problem is, this fix sux.

Change to the original server.

HOWTO :

1) Open the file updaterconfig.xml (located in in your PlaneShift installation directory) with WORDPAD and change this line :

to :

2) Save and quit

3) Restart updater

4) You now have 40 KB/s
