You could\'ve just clicked on the \"Downloads\" link from the main website :) Instructions are posted there:

To play PlaneShift you have to download one of the files below depending on your platform, and then register a new account. Before running the client, remember to run the updater program, it will get the latest files (on Windows: Start->Programs->PlaneShift->Updater).

However, a new sticky has recently gone up about the updater that you should take a look at:

Important: READ THIS if updater is taking long time!

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card as well!
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Greetings gazza, Welcome to PlaneShift.

First off I\'d like to kindly give you a few tips on forum posting. Follow these, and other members will be able to clearly understand where and how you need help, and in return, you\'ll show them that you respect their help and are willing to learn. :)

I know it\'s quicker and easier for many people to type in shorthand, using numbers instead of words in sentences like \"I need 1, it\'s 4 you\". It\'s also common to see people use \"u\" instead of \"you\", and other shorthand versions of words. However, in a forum enviroment, where chat is not real-time (i.e. it\'s not like txting on your mobile phone, and people will not view your posts immediately after you make them), it is considered somewhat lazy and even rude to type in this manner.

Consider all the other members of the forum trying to read a post full of numbers and shortened words- what if they aren\'t native English speakers? Lingo like this makes posts completely unreadable for many people. And yes, even native English speakers have alot of difficulty with it. It may be easy for you to type, but most of the time, having to sit and decypher it is an annoying task- one which many people will simply decide is too much bother, and therefore offer you no help.

Respect travels in both directions. Take time to think about your post, giving as much detail as you can. Use full words, and a spellchecker if you have one- simply copypaste the text into a word processor and make sure to get rid of most errors before posting. Doing this, you not only get your point fully across and make everyone understand you, but it will also give the impression that you are mature, respectful, and most of all, worth people\'s time and effort. They will then be very happy to help as much as they can, and who knows, you might make alot of friends very quickly!

Now then, on to your original question. I\'m afraid it\'s such a vague question to ask \"how do I play\", that no real answer can be given. What I advise is that you just try it out. You\'re not going to break anything that doesn\'t normally break anyway, so don\'t worry. If you have technical issues, read the Technical Help forum or CB Bugs area and see if someone else has already posted about it. Please read before making a thread or post, as when so many people do this, it tends to clutter up the forum and stops real posts with real problems being seen.

If you have gameplay questions, go to the website, make sure you\'re on the News section, and then look for the Player\'s Guide link. Most everything you\'ll want to know about how the game works is in there.

You can also use the in-game Help channel and an Advisor will try to help you with your questions. Again, do read the forum and Player\'s Guide first, as repeated questions get annoying.

Have fun. :)

A good idea is to read the player guide, http://www.planeshift.it/guide.html if I remember right.
Then, just read around in the forum as already suggested to you, since there are useful tips on the game.
