A 40 slash shortsword will sell for significantly more than a 54 slash broadsword because a shortword is much faster than a broadsword. A shortsword deals less damage at once, but more damage over time. Further, the shortsword gets its damage in ~before~ the broadsword can, so it draws first blood. And in some fights, first blood means the kill.
When these weapons first appeared, they sold for 20k each. Then the price dropped to 10k.... 8k.... 6k.... until they were selling for 2-4k. If the price has gone up again, then that\'s great because I have a large stockpile of such weapons which I was simply unable to sell for anything more than pennies.
