« on: October 02, 2005, 01:27:26 pm »
i have downloaded PS, made myself a character, but when i try to enter the game it says this:

Something unexpected has happened in PlaneShift:Crystal Blue

Details: EXCEPTION_ACCES_VIOLATION at 7C00724A

Would you like to save a diagnostic file?

Then it just quits out of the client window

Search! This has been discussed before :)

The problem is related to sound. Go to the PlaneShift Setup (C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\\pssetup.exe, or Start->Program Files->PlaneShift Crystal Blue->PlaneShift Setup, on Windows), and choose \"Off\" under sound options. See if this fixes it.

Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?

Changing the settings made a diff.    this time it made it to loading GUI.

But that same message popped up again!

Try not to make multiple posts if no one replies between them :) Just edit your previous post to add new info.

Are you sure it was the exact same message? The current page for dmp file submition (http://command.no-ip.com/dmp/) lists 7C00724A as a sound issue. Have you made sure that you\'ve updated both the game and your graphics card drivers, disabled sound, and made sure you do not have \"Load All Maps\" enabled?

If you\'re using an nvidia card, download the latest drivers from nvidia.com. If you\'re using ATI, the recommended drivers are Omega (you can alternatively try ati.com). Basically find your card model, and download the drivers from the manufacturer\'s website. They\'re free updates :)

Erm. You mean card? I presume you\'re in Windows, so right-click anywhere on the desktop, click properties, then hit the Settings tab, and look under Display. You should see some sign of an \"ATI\" or \"Nvidia\", etc.

Mm, curious. One of the number sets that isn\'t listed currently. I guess I\'m at a standstill, if you have followed all the previous instructions (remember that updating the graphics card drivers was just one of them). You can try uploading the dump files to the website I\'ve linked to in one of my previous posts, and hoping this will get looked at :) Beyond that, someone else is going to have to take over with further suggestions.

*edited to add* GeForce MX 400... Is that the 64MB card? It may be too low, but I\'m unsure if its enough to warrant the errors.
