The Way of the Hammer
« on: October 06, 2005, 06:21:56 pm »
A Long Time Ago...
... there was a way of life for many of the Dwarven Clans. It was known as \'The Way of the Hammer\'. This way was has been in decline for many years now and there are only a few Dwarfs that still follow it.

The Way...
... was taught to a Clans children, and passed down through the generations as an oral tradition. As Dwarven families become smaller and the children have moved away from their traditional homes The Way has become in danger of fading away into the mists of time...
History

In The Beginning...
... The Way was there to help the small Dwarven Clans eak out a living from the hard lands they lived in. Each Clan would help their closest neighboring Clans in the times of need. The spring planting, the autumn harvest and times of war. This created obligations between Clans that were often settled with marage, shared lands and mines. As these obligations became stronger the Clans worked closer togeather for each others benefit.

As the Wheel of Time Turned...
...the Clans forged strong alliances through marage and the mountain mines the sheared. These alliances have lasted many generations and as the Clans worked closer togeather these alliances and obligations were formalised. With each shared task came an obligation that the Clan of the same weight. With each obligation an alliance grew stronger.

As History Came and Went...
...the time of the Clans passed. With the coming of a new age in the world the Clans children started to move in to the cities and bigger towns that were developing in the world. Many of the Dwarves that moved to the cities kept The Way alive by helping their neighbour Dwarf in the hard times that always strike in the cities.

In The City...
...The Way was starting to take shape as more city dwelling Dwarven folk started to become aware of their history thriving in the midst of the cities they lived. The advantages of a community where trade is between friends and help is always at a short arms reach was becoming apparent. So it has come to pass the The Way of the Hammer was practised by many Dwarven folk in the cities. The Dwarves that had moved to the cities new from their history that The Way needs to be formalised so the Dwarven folk created a City Guild...

The Future
It Now Comes to Pass...
...that it is no longer enough just to help your neighbour Dwarf but there are others that need help and in turn can provide help to others when it is needed. The Council of the Hammer is in on-going discusions about the official inclusion of \'outsiders\' in to The Way.

The Guild
The Name...
...\"The Way of the Hammer\" came out of the mountains where the Dwarves have their traditional homes. The hammer was symbol of power and friendship, obligation and trust. When a friendship of the Clans came about a symbolic hammer was exchanged to forge the obligation between the Clans. Latter hammers were given to express close friendships and the trust that is inherent therein.

The Goals...
To promote an way of life that helps all that you have contact with.
To promote the better treatment of all Dwarves.
The betterment of Waybread in the world.
More to be announced with the next meeting of the Council of the Hammer...

Besides just a few spelling errors, very nice job.  This seems quite well thought out and I see no downsides :).  Good luck friend, for after you start a guild things only get harder.  Hope you can keep things together and stick it out.

Best wishes to Apis and his guild. I already met him and several of his members in Kada-El\'s tavern, enjoying them singing a few folks.

After a day or two of our website being down it should be all up and running again.

Spoke too soon, the forum is not playing nice :(
(tikiwiki doesn\'t like php5.0.5r1)

I am putting an \'Open Forum\' in our forum for new Dwarfs to apply for membership and for the public to make general comments directed to the guild on (done as of 1500 gmt on the 14). This can be found at http://blueether.net/TWH/tiki-forums.php

So far we have been very successful at finding new members and yesterday we broke the 10 Dwarf mark :)

Again a thankyou for all the positave comments here and in game.

[edit to change the guilds website url in this post and the orginal post]
