A good or bad idea?
« on: November 11, 2002, 01:43:08 am »
I\'m thinking of starting my own guild, since I\'m getting a little bored of everything...  It\'ll be good alignment, for the most part.  I\'m just wondering if any of you think this\'ll be a good idea, or whether I should wait for the game to get finished, or whatever.  I just want to know if this is a good idea before I make a whole website for it.  Thanks. :D

(Notice how I\'m being all polite and stuff?  I\'m hoping it\'ll help me get some more members :D )

Well, Aruneko, it really depends on how you will handle things if it will be a good idea or not.

First you cant expect to get members really fast, and when you do not, close your guild down...You should also make sure you keep things organized, as well as keep control of your guild members...Also have well-thought out rules and beliefs.

Well, those are just what I think, but if their handled right, you could have a great guild :P , if not, you may still be able too anyways, as long as your willing to hang around.

So, in other words, I think its a good idea as long as your willing to put the time into it, that goes along with all the other guild leaders and soon-to-be guild leaders.

Sure, if you\'ve looked around at all the other guilds, and cant find one you like, start your own.

However. you have to be prepared to dedicate a fair bit of your time to running your guild (not now, but later, when the game is going and you have more members).

Personally, I prefer guilds with an aim, beliefs and a bit of a background story, but thats just me.

If you do decide to make a guild, then I wish you luck, but I reccomend you check out all the other guilds first, to see if one interests you.

Running a succesful guild can be very rewarding :).

I think if ur willing to put the work in to start a new guild, you should definitley go for it, we especially need more good aligned guilds around anyway, cause i think theres only 1 other.

Why Aruneko? Why?! I was so happy when i read that your guild was going to be good-aligned. And then you had to go and destroy that feeling with those next devestating four words:
for the most part  (please read with booming and echoing voice)
AAARGH! Why can\'t you just be good period. Is that so hard?

Hey, the life of a diabolical evil maniac with masses of people following him is really as glamourous as they say it is. (well, maybe not masses, BUT soon)

Anywho, good luck with your guild, if you do decide to get it up and running. Wish you all the best, I know one day you will join us in the plains of despair, or as it is more commonly known as,... WalMart (aka. Xolon\'s Smithy) :D

a) i would wait til the game starts. cuz otherwise, u\'d have problems staying active. and in a guild inactivity = death, or at least serious problems b) u might want to read this thread http://www.planeshift3d.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=1890&boardid=18&styleid=2 not many ppl posted, but it\'s a pretty good idea of what ppl want in a guild. c) yes, if u want to make a guild, ur gonna have to be prepared to dedicate a lot of time in it. in another game, one of the squads i\'m in is one of the best in the game (in the opinion of me and many other players in the game) because we have a great leader, who is always active and is constantly making great updates for the site. d) if u go through with it, good luck.

Hmm.  Well, I\'ve made up my mind.  I\'m going to make one, since as I said, I\'m bored.  It\'ll give me something to do.  Don\'t know what I\'ll name it, though I\'ll easily think of some beleifs (got some in mind already) and then I\'ll get working on a site.  Thanks, everyone, for the feedback.

Don\'t worry though Keldorn, I just meant that we (or I, for now) would do things that are morally good.  Not necessarily legal, but morally.  (If you are able to commit crimes.)

It\'s not that I can\'t find a good guild to join, I just want to try making my own.

Well, I\'ll start compiling a list of stuff I need to do.  Hope somebody joins!

P.S.- I might need a little help in setting up a guild forum...

Well from my point of view being pure good kind of inhibits you. Besides evil always has the hottest chicks.

Althoug I suppose planeshift does need a few sickeningly good guilds to ballance things out.

Well I think Ill end this post now I cant seem to have lost my train of thought so this post probably wont make sense when I come back and read it later.

Well, if you kind of look at it the other way, pure evil inhibits you also, by which you AWLAYS have to look out for yourself, and if you extend a helping hand, it had to be for your own profit....and as far as im aware up there are NO pure evil guilds either

Yeah Link, whatever.

Aruneko, i would join and help you out, but i don\'t think starting a guild just because you\'re bored is such a good idea.
