Graphic Problems
« on: October 09, 2005, 07:15:47 pm »
Hi,I just downloaded PS yesterday and I was really eager to finally run and play it so I ran the setup and tried to run it on WinXP (with service pack 1) when I got this:

...the PS conf. setup screen i got:

...the client screen I got:

...so after it didn\'t work on WinXP I tried to run it on Win98SE where the PS setup menu looked almost normal but I got some other error message telling me that there is \"no hardware acceleration\" and the login screen wasn\'t showing (only the intro image was showing and the loading bar wasn\'t loading anything).

My comp specs are the following:

OS:

Windows XP Professional
v 2002

Perf.:

Celeron Procssor 1.72 GHz
256 MB RAM

GFC:
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440

I tried messing around with the prefs. of my graphics card but nothing worked...
Should I,like, update my drivers or buy a new computer (which I\'m going to do this year anyway)? Ah,please help me somehow, downloading 250 MB via 56k Dialup is such a pain,don\'t tell me it was all in vain :( (i didn\'t intend this to rhyme,oh well...)

Try to update the drivers of the graphic card.
That will surely fix the problems with \"no hardware acceleration\" if the graphic card is good enough - if it is the GeForce 440 MX it will work.

Maybe it is a bit tiny on RAM, but you can try to run it anyway.

/me asks the obvious question...

Did you run the updater?

Those pics are of what happens when you\'re missing some art files.

It is NOT the drivers

Change video configuration from 32 bits to 16 bits. I have GForce MX440 , same problem, same solution.
An upgrade of video drivers NOT solves the problem.

Then it is like Dave_g is suggesting, try to run the updater. Starts->Programs->planeshift Crystal Blue->Planeshift Updater

I also had this problem.

My comp is:
Windows XP Professional SP 2
Sempron Procssor 2.4 GHz
1 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000

Some easy suggestion to make to function right?

1) Read.

2) Tell us which ideas you tried, which worked, which didn\'t.
