Pc Crash/Fallout
« on: October 10, 2005, 09:56:38 am »
This is more a \"wanted to let you know that...\" then a \"O no! I can\'t play the game!\" topic.

So the thing is, my pc crashes (withouth any error message) when i stay in character creation for more then 5 minutes or so. I solved the problem by simply creating my char in less then 5 minutes. I know there have been reports in the past of character creation failing when it took more then an x amount of time, but i don\'t remember anything crashing at the same moment.

System info:
OS: Windows XP home edition
Processor: AMD athlon 1,25 Ghz
RAM: 3x 256mb (768mb)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 4 TI 4200
Video Card Memory: No clue, although i\'m sure it\'s enough
PS Client Version: 0.3.011
OpenGL or Safe Mode: OpenGL

Does it crash on a specific screen, or it it solely based on time?  Can you just let it sit there, or do you have to be clicking things to make it crash?

it\'s solely on time.
First time I noticed it, I went afk during character creation and left my pc for a few minutes,  when i came back I found it turned off.
(and no, noone turned it off)

Second time it happened while still working on my character (during the \"events happend in life\" screen.

Apparently, it isn\'t planeshift related (Found out it also happens during other games), which is a good thing.

but ths problem still is the same :(

Did the computer turn off in second case too ? I would say, that probably CPU was overheated and motherboard decided to shut down the machine. Planeshift uses processor very intensively (as other 3D games do). Check the CPU cooling fan.
