Somewhat good idea
« on: November 16, 2002, 07:51:23 am »
instead of having some game that\'s like any other game, all you do is STAND, you should be able to sit and normal stuff, like, life like abilities. It would increase the moral of players instead of just STANDING, like say its 2:00am, its the middle of the night, not alot of people are on, you walk into a bar , sit at a table, drink some ale, then you see a person sit next to you, start a conversation. Thats just one idea, but i mean sit ANYWHERE , like say theres a church, and some stairs leading to it,  you could just sit on the stairs, with the sun shining on you.

This would be pretty sweet... or say theres a table next to an open window, people from the town could see you...so on.... its just a thing that would make the game more realistic, better , more funner, like an online life in a fantasy world. :D

And assuming health points are regenerated slowly over time, maybe they would regenerate faster when sitting down.

If that is the case, why not take this idea further.
How about the ability the actually wave, or bow, do a little dance, stuff like that. The keys can be 1,2,3,4...and so on, and this would be a cool way of greeting someone that you know in a game, or if someone just gave you something, you can bow to them in an act of thx.
Some of the moves could be:
wave
bow
hand-stand
somersault
a little dance

...and if you did not have high skills in those things you\'d end up looking stupid :P (ex. falling over while trying to do a handstand)

Good idea. Also, pehaps lying down somewhere would be nice. Like lying on beds, the grass, and... well, any other place. It could also be called \'sleeping\' (:P) and you automatically do that when you log out and are somewhere safe. I think I\'ve said something similar to this in another thread... That same thread also had someone say \'Lets call it the Sims!\'

Good idea

Like in Asherons call it should be like

*Action*

I remember *afk* made you meditate in the air, it was nice.

*atoyot* did some stuff

there were many commands, like praying and such
get a candle, do *pray* and we can go to the temple for guild prayers to the gods!

You know, after reading all your ideas I\'ve just had a brilliant idea that will make the game way more fun if your ideas are impimented. It it:

GET A NEW PC!

Cool ideas, just very hard for my thinking machine to proccess.

I guess I assumed that this would be implemented anyway (eMotes that is).  They are pretty standard fare in most MMORPGs that I have seen.  I would almost have to say that the game would be MORE original without eMotes.  Not better, just different from other games.

I do like eMotes.  They make your character a bit more human.  But I also agree with Wormtail... After a while, it becomes The Sims.  I will happily give up a plethora of eMotes in exchange for some truly unique features.

Like....  Um.... true 3 dimensional combat.  (flying creatures and spells to make the players capable of flight.)

Or... Well balanced PvP.

Maybe even a character developement model that makes all characters balanced regardless of how you develop your skills. (no uber templates)

But do NOT neglect the eMotes.  The games socializers would lose interest without them, and every single person that plays, whether for socializing or exploring or even griefing is needed to make any game a good one.

Just my 2 cents.

Or perhaps, rather, in the pertinent skill, ie acrobatics, diplomacy, etc. Though of course you shouldn\'t need much diplomacy to wave properly :P But probably to actually look really good when you bow, and, more importantly, to know when to bow, though I\'m not sure how that would be expressed in game.  What would be really cool is if most skills had some moderately trivial actions associated with them, and just some general ones, and you could bind keys to perforing them. It\'d be a bit more work and a bit more data, but if you\'re using a skeletal animation system it shouldn\'t be too much. The hardest part would probably be coordinating handshakes between two characters...

On the other hand, if actions weren\'t skill based, it might be good to allow player scripting of actions. That way a bard could actually make up a new dance if he wanted, or whatever. Again, with a skeletal animation system it\'s not that much additional data, and I think it could be presented in a way that a sufficient number of people would be interested in making some. Though I suppose we have to worry about obscene gestures, then...

Have four levels of readiness

Standing: normal regen, normal readiness
Sitting: 1.5x regen, opponant gets 1 extra free attack on you
Resting: 2x regen, opponant gets 2 extra free attack
Sleeping:3x regen, 3 free attacks.  (maybe cannot hear speech?  Would be nice if all you see is yourself sleeping.

yeah like having an inn where you can pay for a room and lock your door lay down and take a nap for a predetermined amount of time. Or maybe you could get drunk and pass out somewhere on the streets. The sleeping thing would be really cool. I agree you shouldn\'t be able to see the chat screen while sleeping, but if your skills are high enough youy can be startled awake if someone came too close.

as far as emotes go those are pretty common place so maybe the standard fair with diffrent emotes depending on what skills you have. Like someone who is really strong and good at combat could flex. Or someone who is really agile could like pull a hand stand I think customized emotes deoending on your skill and skill level would work out really well

Grace
« Reply #14 on: December 03, 2002, 01:20:27 am »
The skill could be called \"Grace\"

You would go to a \"Grace\" school to learn these traits but you would have to have a certain level of grace points to learn each new thing. you could start out with \"siting\" to get you xp up a little then you can go to the school to learn a new skill to use... ect ect....... there could also be different schools of grace that offer different \"grace\" teachings.

some more ideas for this skill:

Toasting ( propose a toast to a new aliance or guildship)

Hand Signals(peace sign, wave, thumbs up,thummbs down)

Hand shake (used for greeting)

I duuno jus an idea...

How can you guys be \"The Lone Rangers\" when there is three of you?
