Well, the fourth Thrice album came out today, and i could almost just say wow to describe this.

Vheissu combines mindbending guitar playing, heart-racing drumming, and bass that makes your ears pound with glee. The song \" Atlantic\" makes you feel as if you are underwater, with waves crashing just above your head. The splashing drums and deep bass engulfs you, and you can almost feel the water surrounding you. The song \"Music Box\" starts off with an eerie sounding music box playing a song, which is played throughout the song in the backround. The song ultimately makes you feel the emotions being sent out by Dustin Kensrue.  On the song \"For Miles \", Teppei starts off by playing a beautiful piano part, before launching into a death defying guitar riff, while Kensrues scream back the instrumentals.

The last song red sky is an ultramodern sounding song, with heavily muted drumbeats, and much abuse of the delay effects, an amazing sounding piano to back the drums up, then it slowly becomes a deep,, emotional and amazing song at the chorus, before again fading into its verse. This time, another vocalist in the band backs up Kensrue, to make an eerie whisper, and then back to the chorus.

While this album is the only one out there that has its own sound, in my honest opinion, it still strays far from Thrices original sound. Back when fast paced punk riffs dominated their songs, backed up by Kensrue\'s lyrical poetry.

In this album, what drags me in most is the \"Uniquity\" (is that a word? O.o), and the amazing entanglement of rhyming put down by Kensrue. The diversity of sounds found in this album is unparelled by any other bands that have ever made an effort to step out , and be different. Something i have always loved thrice for.
Now all in all, i would give this album a 11 out of 10, because the instrumentals are beautiful, dynamic, and sonically impactful. The lyrics are poetric, and emotional, the drumming makes your heart pound in beat. When it picks up, your adrenaline pumps, and then it slows, and so does your heart.  What pushed it even ABOVE a ten, is the originality of it all. Hours of composition must have been put into each song to make them this harmonious and perfect.

Now, if you like metal, if you like alternative, if you like techno, if you like industrial, if you like punk, if you like emo, if you like hardcore, this album is a MUST buy. Thrice took a large step of maturity in this album, from the once happy and high treble band we loved, to the bassy, emotional band we no longer love.

Because now we are one with them.

And there is my review for this great album. My favorite cd of all time, it even puts Train of Though to shame (!)

Quick question - if I was highly apathetic toward their previous albums, will this do anything to change my mind about them?  All I hear is hype about this cd...I don\'t feel like listening through it right now since I\'m listening to Audio Karate.

Yea. They became a different band completely this time around. the first song follows off where Artist in Ambulence left off. Not the best song, but keep listening afterwards. Click the link up there, decide for yourself

Well, I gave it a shot, and I have to say...it is a lot better then their previous cds, to me anyways.  I might just have to pick this up.  Though I have to get the With Honor cd first.

If you buy the album within 1 week, you should be able to get the special edition one with the 30 page booklet of the recording process. Its a good read IMHO

3 dollars from every sale are donated to charity for education in 12 major cities in the US and western europe
