Memory problem ????
« on: October 23, 2005, 04:44:49 pm »
I hope anyone can help me out. After I created my Character I couldn\'t connect to the game server. I got two popup screens saying;

EXCEPTION_ACCES_VIOLATION at 7C00724A

and

The instruction at \"0x0c8c8d33\" referenced memory at \"0x0c06e54c\". The memory could not be \"read\"

What is the problem, and why can\'t I start the game ?
As I am new it can\'t be a bann or an IP bann zo what can it be ?

Grtz Nostradamus

There\'s an update going on, whenever it\'s finished (you\'ll see it either on forums or visiting laanx.fragnetics.com and seeing that there\'s people on the server) run the updater again, and, hopefully, your problems will be gone.

Yes, you\'ll need to, since there\'s an update going on, as I stated.
But be joy, since this update is meant to be the solution for your problem ;)

The server is down for updates. Check the thread in Server Discussion for the \"full story\" - it will also tell you when the server will return, and the implementation of updates complete, so you can patch your client fully. Until then, please wait.

What is going on ? I mean according to the latest news the server should be up. It still says 100% fail.

(ran updater several times, so that this is not the problem)

The server is having problems at the moment, I would advise you watch some TV or go outside. I haven?t heard anything about when it will be back up so I have no idea how long you will have to wait.

According to laanx.fragnetics.com it should be up and running again.

I got the same problem as Nostradamus. Only the memory adress is different of course. I did try several times after both updates to launch the game, but no........
These are hard times :(

Any wise advice?

Perhaps the problems aren\'t solved with the update then ;)
Well, at first, try what we always say, updater in recovery mode. All programs-Planshift-PLaneshift Updater (recovery mode)  Just to ensure that nothing is left to update.
After doing that, updating restores some settings to defaults, so, launch pssconfig, and ensure (*sighs*) that music is off and load all maps too, just in case, you can also adjust resolution there. Relaunch and see if it\'s solved.
To sum up, perhaps the sound problem isn\'t gone, and since the updater restores settings by default it could have turned on the music again without you being aware of it. I do hope it\'s this.

EDIT: Just saw a \"wise\" advice was expected... I guess you\'ll have to wait a little bit more then... *watches the watch while whistling*

EDIT2: Just realized how weird it sounds the sentence above...

Thank you. That is wise advice indeed. And some weird remarks as a bonus? Or those remarks are so wise I do not get them.

Now I am a dedicated student and did try to follow the advice. I can do it all except (recovery mode). I remember there was also something with \'-- auto\' at the and of the file that starts the updater, but all my experiments went wrong.(Eeehm, no remarks here please.)  Could not find it with search either, though everyone seems to know how to do it. How is it done exactly?

If you\'re on windows, you should have a direct shortcut where I already pointed.
Click: Start->All Programs->Planeshift->Planeshift Updater (recovery mode)

If you don\'t have that shortcut, don\'t worry, select the one saying Planeshift Updater, right-click on it then properties.
You\'ll then see a line that ends with (...) updater.exe\" and then add an space and then --auto
it should look like (blabla) updater.exe\" --auto
Please nothe the space between the \" and -
Good luck.
