which CS/CEL for 0.3012
« on: October 24, 2005, 12:39:15 pm »
Hi,

can some one specify the correct CS/CEL Version to build 0.3012 on?

I\'ve build it with Thursday 6 Oct 00:00:00 UTC 2005 CVS-Checkout on mac os x and it runs fine so far, but i\'d like to know what the official binaries are build on.

regards

YEs, that date,(maybe even later) will work for CS/cel.

For PS sources however, be sure to get no later then:
Sun Oct 23 18:00 2005 UTC
There were netversion bumps in quick succesion so there is atmost a 20hour window of usable sources. That date should be the last possible that conencts to laanx at this point.

Edit: see later posts.

perfect,

i think i hit the correct timeframe by chance, as i did the cvs-checkout and build while the server was down for the update on sunday around 16:00-17:00 UTC.

Thanks for the Information.

I think each maintiner will have a different version of the CS/CEL sources, so you can\'t really ask for the version of the official binaries until you ask for a certain system. Just use the version of CS/CEL/Cal3D you have until it doesnt work correctly with PS anymore, then get newer versions. Or you update regulary like twice a month to get the newest fixes. If you get a version which is ahead of PS, just go back a day or two until it works with PS again.

I noticed that last night when I built my client. But since I just wanted to recreate my char und look a bit around what changed since my last login, I didn\'t want to download and compile everything again and did some good old tweaking on the netversion :D. Not recommended for the unexperienced, so don\'t try this at home :P

Actually, for a while we have had CS/cel freeze dates, you can see in the Weekly Update thread, as well as the history.txt, and the topic of #planeshift-build.

Each freeze is lasting for a longer time. Just a few more freeze bumps and we\'ll be at CS 1.0 ;)

Actually, the Clientbuild works fine for me, after sorting out the last few peanuts,
like the missing DejaVu-Font, some missing jpg\'s and setting an other skin than cvs.zip. The Stone-Skin looks funny.

As stfrn says the team (and the mainteiners, since they are in the team right now) uses the \"official\" code, which is based on the freeze date decided for specific circumstances (usually, some particular change in CS code).

This is quite clear in the IRC channel #planeshift-build where even the topic shows which is the date of the code.

Using a newer version of CS/CEL and even Cal3D can causes problems or different behaviours, which may be hard to track down.

When the PS team will decide to change date of CS & co, we usually change the topic on #planeshift-build, or anyway we give hints about it (as stfrn says in history.txt or in the thread \"weekly update\" in this forum branch).

Ah, I thought that wouldn\'t last long, now you have to us PS sources from yesterday. today\'s code will not work once again, and that old version will connect... from one narrow area to anouther :)

Hm, the build i made on Sunday (03.012 on OSX) is recected now by the Server due to wrong Version. It has worked Monday morning but i guess there have been a lot of patches during the last 2 days. It seems i have to rebuild (or could there be a Platform-related issue?) . So, what cvs-checkout-date of the planeshift sources would you recommend for the build?
