Updater: OS set for Automatic Install?
« on: October 24, 2005, 04:50:01 pm »
Why does my updater say he can\'t fetch the new updater(\"WARNING: Can\'t fetch the new updater...\")? He blabbers something about not having my OS set for automatic install. So I was wondering, how do I get it set for automatic install then?

Did you try to update from 0.3.11? Or Did you run the updater after you compiled the cvs? If you mean with OS set the other_os stuff not found in the registry, that\'s have always been normal. But it looks like your updater tries to access a wrong repository. Check your used mirror in updaterconfig.xml, especially if you compiled from cvs.

I tried to update from 0.3.11. I\'ll check out the repository thing, thanks.

I guess it\'s more about the following:

Under Windows, the updater 1.0.2.6 is able to download the new updater 1.0.2.7, unzip the ZIP archive, and restart itself after unzipping.

Under Linux, the updater 1.0.2.6 detects that a newer updater is available, but it cannot update itself. But here, I miss a few useful hints printed in the console how to solve this flaw. I first have to look into the board if someone explained this already (and for some issues, it is hard to find useful search queries which result in good matches).

Therefore, I\'d thank you very much if you could tell me in detail how I should behave under Linux, because the updater cannot update itself here.

And - no, I don\'t usually download source packages to compile it, only if I really must.

Your updaterconfig.xml should contain a section similiar to this
Code: [Select]

Also try the new installer: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?boardid=41&threadid=19389&page=1#2

I have one of those feelings that the updater version was bumped just after I made those binaries.... which would kinda suck but doesn\'t matter so much as I\'ll be uploading some newer ones very soon.

Nevermind this issue, great job with installer Xordan. Now I just have to wait until the server is working right :P.

Hi,

followed the links to the new installer, and then followed the directions.

Update is currently running smoothly.

Groovy work on the installer Xordan.

Cheers.
