PSFAG!!
« on: October 27, 2005, 12:35:57 pm »
I have created a guild that is not an ingame guild.
PSFAG = PlaneShift Frequently Asked Guild. The main purpose is to help newbies and veteran members with correct and updated info, of anything in the game, with the exception of Technical problems or Shopprices and there are NO walkthroughs.

If interested walk by, all help to update my information or anything that might help others is welkom.

http://psfag.erwinroos.com Help in writing the site is welcome to, as I only write in plain HTML. Contact for the Guild, mail me at psfag@erwinroos.com

I hope that it will help out other people, and that it will never violate any of the game or dev rules.

Maybe your going a little over board.

I mean I\'m happy to see that you want to help but maybe the Guild name doesn\'t fit in with the Name Policy...

As Drey said there is always the /advisor command.
Just making sure  ;)

Well, I\'m not sure whether one can call it a guild then. I would rather call it an organisation.

OK, the intention is good.
However, there are still the advisors in-game. I think players will use them more frequently than your guild, because your guild \"is not an ingame guild\", and advisor\'s advice can be given ingame. ;)

Knowledge is power, if you know how to apply it.

I have to ask, PSFAG... are you serious?  Becuase normally, without someone trying to do so, you wouldnt come up with an obscene name.  Now I dont know you, so I have no idea.. but I wouldnt want to join a guild where right above my head it says PSFAG :P..

And this is where you went terribly wrong :) Not an in-game RP guild? Doesn\'t belong in Guild Forum. Going to provide up-to-date information to newbies and veterans? From who, or from what? Better be online and in IRC 24/7 to get all the latest info, read the CVS constantly, make friends with the dev team, understand PS goals, etc., etc.

A noble goal, but without much purpose :)

Yeah, when people start saying you\'re sleeping with devs, that might mean you\'re ready for such thing. But not before.

I think this out of game guild won\'t work because there are a couple information guilds in game...knowledge seekers...they already have this part covered...

PSFAG? I thought this would be a \"i hate planeshift\" thread.

(if you don\'t get it \"PSFAG\" = \"Planeshift fag\")

Well Well what a lot of nice commands.

1) About the name as it is an abbreviation I don\'t care what people think about it, unless they come up with a better suggestion. And considering the name policy, I have read it and as far as I am concerned I am not breaking this policy at all.

2) It will work, even though some people here think it won\'t. As I am willing to give some information I haven\'t found myself, when I wanted to read upon certain matters. Also I will add some information I haven\'t seen on any website related to the game, and therefore it can be an extra.

3) People that can think of doing things better, while not doing so, shouldn\'t comment negative about a positive thing.

4) An out of the game guild yes. First of as I am still a newbie and thus haven\'t got the trias to start one. Nor have a got enough people yet that are willing to be member. However I haven\'t said it will stay an out of the game guild.

5) As I host the site at my own domain (Yes I pay for the domain, and if you guys want to know, the servers are hosted in The Netherlands.) the site remains online as long as I wish.

Nos, this is an OOC guild. OOC guilds are a no-no in PlaneShift. I don\'t see the reason for further discussions :)

So basically what you are doing is making a FAQ: frequently asked questions and Information website about PS. Don\'t really see the point in calling it a guild, especially not an ingame guild.

The FAQ itself isn\'t a bad idea, you\'re not the first one that makes one and I doubt yours will be any more or less complete than the others. By all means go ahead though. Just don\'t give any spoilers away like quest solutions, etc.

If you are going to make it an in game guild you will have to come up with a better name, a background story and dress it into the world of Yliakum some more though. Personally you\'re probably better off joining the Knowledge Seekers. ;)

Who would have thought?

I like your motives for helping the community make sense of the noob questions, and provide an overall relief to the growing problem of overstated problems. Although this has been a problem in the past, the game is obviously far more complicated compared to a Planeshift only a year ago.

Perhaps you should sit down and think of another way to help that isn\'t as unneeded as an ingame or out of game guild for helping. People take long enough to find these forums, so you can imagine just how long it would take for a person to find this guild.

I love the spirit, perhaps you could incorperate this energy into something helpful like a faq but with newbs in mind. When I say that I mean add lots of pretty pictures and design. I have yet to see a faq with a very asthetically pleasing interface. Why don\'t you try to make the first one?

From a newbie\'s point of view......

When I want answers right away there first thing I do is ask the first person I see. Next if they do not answer I try to contact friends. Third if no one is there to help then I use the help channel or send a /tell to a GM.

I think the idea is great and love the heart you show to want to help, but if you set up on ooc guild then won\'t that defeat the purpose of role playing and making friends. As I stated at the top of my message the first thing I do is ask the person right in front of me....usually in a role playing manner if that can be done. I make a friend. What you are doing is going to actually take away from that.....

My last words are great idea but an ooc guild? Seems a little strange for a roll playing game. My guild also helps newbies in the game, that is why I sighed up for it. Only it is real interaction, not a bunch of words........
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!
