Yeah, it is better to build your own computer... or have your supergamer brother give you his when he goes and gets an Alienware laptop that can run any PC game out there on probably full settings... I have his old computer which will run any game i will be playing quite nicely. Oblivion will run well on this computer, and once that comes out, all i am playing is it, PS, and UT2004 (which i also play on full detail and graphic settings etc.). My brother also updates my computer for me and gets me better stuff when he can.

Yeah I cant buy an Xbox.. Way too loyal to Nintendo :).. And Microsoft makes it :(.  I dont want them getting their hands on a Monopoly.  So Ill stick with Nintendo and a little Playstation because of the RPGs :D... if Nintendo had some I wouldnt have to cheat :P.

..Does anyone know why they chose to call it Xbox 360? I fail to see any relevance.

When the XBOX 360 is released it will be more powerful than any computer on the market.  The processor alone in the 360 is triple core.  Most of today\'s computers are lucky to have a dual core processor.  Although I am no fan of XBOX, the reality is that when the next-gen consoles hit they will surpass our computers.

Personally I\'ll stick to the PS3.

yeh, and after the 360 comes out, 3 months later computers will surpass it as well... Besides, like I said, any games i\'ll be playing are going to play just as well on my computer as they would on xbox 360... I\'ll stick with PS3 as well

XBOX 360 will really be nothing more than a much faster update of ther \"pc dressed up as a console running windows 2000\".  Playstation III and Nintendo Revolutions both have alot more technology going into their new systems with the PS3 having a processor power edge of all of the othes by using a revolutionalry new processor - something only they have - its a cell processor developed by IBM.  Its an increadible feat of engineering, allowing for the ability to emmulate other processors without a performance hit, multiple read instrucionts, no need for cache, etc.. inane stuff. Nintendo revolutions will be a 4 processor based system with all kinds of nice optomizations and tweaks.  Should be a good race.

Utilizing two IBM BE processors, Mercury said its blade server will have a 400 GFLOPS peak performance. The configuration will also utilize XDR memory from Rambus and run on Linux OS.

Wow - bye bye gigahertz.

Quote
The Cell processor, which will drive Sony\'s PlayStation 3, will run 10-times faster than current PC chips, its designers have said.

Quote
The CPU\'s running the XBOX 360 will comprise three 64-bit PowerPC cores, each running at 3.2GHz. Brown said the processor should be able to hit a peak bandwidth of 21.6G bps.

wow - they managed squeeze alot of bandwith out of outdated processor architectures!  Pretty good how does PS3 stand up?

Quote
System Bandwidth

Main RAM 25.6GB/s
VRAM 22.4GB/s

so irreguarless of the 3 processor system in the xbox 360, they still don\'t even reach the internal bandwidth. So what about Nintendo Revolutions - well here you go:

Quote
The graphics processor will use an ATI chipset running at 600Mhz and connected to 256 MB of RAM. It will also have 32 shader pipelines -- 16 fewer than the Xbox 360. However, the Nintendo GPU is rumored to run at 500 million triangles per second (100 million sustained) -- roughly equivalent to the Xbox 360. It will also be able to handle 50 billion shader operations per second, which is about the same as the 360 as well.

The Nintendo consolewill also have a PPU -- a physics processing unit. This would be a first in the console wars. A PPU is a custom processor for handling physics calculations (in the same way that the GPU is a custom processor for handling graphics calculations). Physics calculations include things like collision detection and the modeling of complex objects like moving hair and clothes. Having a PPU would offload all of these calculations from the CPU.

If Nintendo pulls it off, the Revolution console will have all the firepower of Xbox 360 and much simpler architecture that makes life easier for software developers.

so there you go - playstations IIi will be the most powerful system in raw processing.  The xbox 360 is doing not much special though the ati graphics chip is looking interesting, and the nintendo revolutions is using a more conventional base system making it easy on developers, while adding PPU technology to bring it up to snuff.

I used to feel that way about the controllers for xbox to but then I started playing the computer and got used to the mouse and keyboard. :D There are also controllers for your pc if you find the mouse and keyboard hard to adjust too. Also you may not get viruses for your xbox, but that doesn\'t mean the xbox is safe. I agree with Stronith statment: My original XBOX\'s power supply had a half dozen capacitors burst. :(  What a friggin mess. You also have to worry about moving it becuase one mistake could cost you the xbox not being able to read the disc ....... Urge!!!

/me threw her xbox in the trash and has saved a lot of green with playing online games on her pc

I am guessing it is 360 degrees or \"coming full circle.\" A revolution is 360 degrees.  Take your pick.

the xbox 360 is nothing special at all the only game in there launch line up that interests me is Perfect dark zero. i had the misfortune of playing morrowind on the xbox and hated it...i lated played it on the pc and loved it...a mistake i wont make again with the 360 and oblivion :)

The best games released on consoles are usually released on PC. I know PC games lately require a pretty powerfull rig, so why not spend the money on upgrading your PC components instead.  Graphics cards are continually being released knocking down the prices of some fantastic cards and although PCI express is now the favoured platform for new cards, major manufacturers continue to produce AGP equivelant cards untill your ready to update your motherboard. CPUs obvoulsy also improve gaming performance and AMD offer Athlon 64\'s for very reasonable prices. And if it comes to RAM, I think upgrading memory is more affordable than ever.

Besides, I don\'t forsee PS ever being released on a console so I\'ll certainly stick to PC. ;)
