Updater...
« on: October 30, 2005, 12:21:53 am »
I have the Mac 1.0.2.6 updater, but when I click the button to update, it does nothing but just closes out the updater window, as if I had clicked the cancel button. What\'s the problem?

I\'m not sure. It doesn\'t matter right now anyway, though, since I haven\'t finished the update yet. ;)

If this problem persists after update is complete, please tell me. Until then, there\'s nothing I can do.

:O...... sSo to fix it I got rid of Planeshift app. (i.e. Deleted it), then down loaded it again. I know it takes a while to down load but then everything went back to normal, meaning it would open up to connect but couldn\'t because there is not a current binary for the update.  ChaOs.....hurry man....hurry....I think I\'m geting the Planeshift DT\'s ::hand shakes a little:: I needs my fix! :D
Anywho, good luck on the binaries.

:Edit: Yay Help  is on the way.

updater.jar problem
« Reply #5 on: November 01, 2005, 07:22:56 pm »
The unofficial updater deletes the psclient, pssetup and the updater. These things were all working before i used the java updater but just after i updated ps using it i found that those three programmes would no longer launch. Im not sure if other people realised this but i know somepeople have complained about the programmes quiting when you launch them and this could be why. Has any one else experinced this?
Also when i updated ps using the original updater it said the new updater could not be automaticaly installed but i could get it from the forum or website. Does anyone know where i can get this new updater?

I answered your question in another thread. Basically, you need to wait for new binaries. Please search next time.

A binary is an application that you run, i.e. psclient(.app), updater(.app), and pssetup(.app). You aren\'t having an unofficial updater problem. What is happening is that you are downloading new game files and trying to use them with old binaries. The old binaries don\'t understand the new game files.

When dfryer and I finish compiling and packaging Planeshift, it will be put in the updater repository and can be downloaded from there with either updater.

Yes, it can, assuming everything is in place.

\"everything\" is the binaries. And there may have been content updates, but the binaries aren\'t there until we say they are there. ;)

I\'ll post in client status and make a new thread.

As far as stars go, you be an active, helpful member of the community and post thoughtful, on-topic posts. Please search, though. This sort of thing has been discussed.
