If you think that not getting an immediate fix/answer means that no one gives a damn, you\'re in for a big disappointment in PlaneShift. Things don\'t just magically happen. Yes there are bugs and yes there are annoying problems, but they are being tackled, especially if they prevent people from playing at all. Just relax for a bit, and think positive ;)

1)  Gunlex:  Somewhere you are trying to access sndsys, which is wrong.  Search within your PlaneShift directory\'s files for the word \"sndsys\".  (just use the Windows search, and search within the files)  It\'s either there somewhere, or there is a glitch in one of the programs.  We haven\'t switched over to the new CS sound renderer yet.

2)  The updater is having issues.  Just ignore those last 2 files for the time being.

3)  Grndmasta:  Learn some freakin\' patience.

4)  Daefaroth:  The issue here is that most devs don\'t read the forums, with good reason...  And, this is a new problem.  Additionally, as I already said, be patient.  We\'re not clarvoiyant, and things don\'t get fixed instantly, especially when we get rambling dins of threads like these.  These forums can become a polluted mess, and sometimes you\'re lucky we\'re as nice as we are...

Here\'s how all of these threads go:

A)  2 possibilities:

a)  A coherent post with lots of information
b)  A whiny un-readable mess.
(usually the latter, but not in this case)

B)  One of the MANY helpful people on the forums posts a generic (and often surprisingly effective) set of solutions.  (Nilrem was your helper monkey this time around :) )

C)  3 possibilities:

a)  Fixed; done.
b)  Fixed; moron.  =>  Try and explain what to do, again.
c)  Not fixed.  =>  Continue.

D)  Next they\'ll be a round of pot shots, with useless chatter mixed in.  (see above)

E)  Someone who knows the slightest clue at what they are doing (but not in this particular area :P ) will discover what\'s wrong and try to fix the issue.  ( hi o/ )

F)  More useless chatter, complaints, whining.  Panic ensues, as everyone in the thread thinks that was the end of it... because it seems they all LIVE here, and expect instant replys.

G)  The person(s) attempting to help point out that their first suggestion may have been along the correct path, and we just need more info.  ( hi o/ )

H)  3 possibilities:

a)  Endless waiting, and more chatter.
b)  Response, but no more info.  =>  Nothing to work with.
c)  Response with more info.  =>  Continue.

I)  Repeat \'E\' through \'H\' until head explodes, a solution is found, or the whiny people with problems (if A.b) give up and stop providing the info we need to actually figure out what the hell is going on...

Appologies accepted.  I know this can be frustrating, but its far more frustrating for whomever ends up having to fix these things...  :P  Old bugs are usually fixed rather quickly as you were hoping, but this is new, so it will take some digging.

What we have:
The client is loading the newer sound render from CS, which PS has not yet switched to.  It is also trying to load the sound renderer when sound is supposed to be disabled.  (2nd part is a new version of an old bug)

What we need:
What is telling it to do this?  I need someone who is getting that specific error to scan all of their PS files for the word \"sndsys\", and tell me where it is.  (if you can\'t find it by scanning text within files, it\'s in the source)  The first thing I\'ll do when I get home, is scan my files and the source.  (not at home, right now; I\'ll have my electronics lab for a while)  I\'ll find where it\'s doing something stupid (hopefully) and kill it.  If it\'s something not in the source, I\'ll tell you how to fix it; if it\'s in the source, I\'ll put the fix in it, and you\'ll get the fix in the next update.  (possibly a small update, within a week or so, if need be)  However, I know Rhad is working on the sound stuffs, and if this is all due to something REALLY psycotic, you\'ll just have to wait until that gets finished.

@ DaveG: can\'t find \"sndsys\" by scanning so it seems to be in the source.

Hope you\'ll fix the bug soon.

Ok, i understand how to scan the files, but is there any files in general that should be scanned? it will take a long time to scan them all...a certain type maybe?

-BTW, thanks for all your help so far!

\"sndsys\" isn\'t in the normal PS stuff, or it\'s source... It\'s a CS issue, apparently... crap...

Ok, anyone who gets:
Quote
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.sndsys.manager\'
specifically, not just the error number, quote your entire psclient.cfg here, please.

Edited to add:
Before I go insane... this IS a typo, isn\'t it?...
