Janner the life of
« on: November 02, 2005, 10:24:47 am »
My ancestors came through the portal many centuries ago hoping to start a new life, at first it was hard for them as they came from a different part of the the outer worlds, but in time they adjusted to life in this strange new world.

Through the centuries they became known by all as honest hard working and always there when a helping hand was needed, and this is still true up to present day.

I was born on a farm, my Mother was the Farmer and my Dad is a Woodcutter, both hard working and willing to help when asked to do so. I had a very happy childhood and would often play with my neighbors\' children, with the help of my father we built a tree fort and had hours of fun playing, also I helped my mother on the farm doing a list of chores each day, which I found hard at first but soon became accustomed to, I also would go out with my Dad and do woodcutting which also at first was hard work and gave me many blisters , but I soon became accustomed to the axe.

In my teens I was taught a little sword and magic for defense as this world is full of monsters who if you get too close to them will attack you.
I soon got the urge to explore and so one day set out to see what was outside of my safe little part of the world we live in.
At first I only went short distances but as time past grew bolder and went further and further, eventually I had been everywhere it was posable to go, but still wanted more.

One day out exploring caves I fell into a deep hole and to my surprise found a portal, after a moments hesitation I stepped through, I found myself in a chamber of portals, too many to count so as to know my way back to my own world I put my small axe by the one I came through, so after doing this I stepped through the first portal to the left.

On one of my trips through a portal, I found myself in a world of diablo, at first I was shunned by them but soon gained their trust, as one day as I sat by the river I spied a child nearly drowning and without hesitation dived in and saved the child, this was seen by many and word soon spread that the strange being was a good person, so I was able to freely move amongst them.
At first it was hard to talk to them and them me as we did not speak the same language, but soon I learnt their tongue and could talk freely to them, I found them to be a very strong race and as young to middle age were by nature friendly but as they progressed on from there they would leave and most never seen again, I never found out why.
Through another portal one day, I was out walking and found  a female named Pipra and we got talking and it was soon clear to see there was a common bond between us as she yearned to explore, so I told her how I came to her world, so after bidding her family goodbye we set out to explore new worlds, soon we were inseparable and fell madly in love, after many years exploring new worlds we decided to have children,  so after a long talk we both decided to return to my world and settle down.

We were very happy and settled down on my family\'s farm, and have three children, are youngest is our daughter named Lizzy who is eight years old, one day she was out in the fields playing with her pet, in the fields adjacent to our farm is a guild Magi training range donated by my father to the local guilds for the purpose of training magic, a very young magi was on his own trying to cast spells and was oblivious to our daughter playing, and in a moment of frustration let lose a powerful spell, which went wildly away from him and struck my beloved daughter down and crippled her for life and rendered her dumb, her pet came back to the farm and raised the alarm, I rushed to the field in hot pursuit of the pet and found my daughter lying there and the magi with a stunned look just stood there.
I gently pick up my little girl and giving the magi a long and hateful look returned to the farm and called for a healer, on his arrival and many hours of trying he sadly said to us all there was nothing he could do for her and forgoing  payment left us to our pain and sorrow.

I was beside myself with pain and rage and just walked away from all I loved, far did I travel and trained in the art of sword till after five years I was fully trained and was a sword master. I set out back to the farm, but one thought in my mind to destroy the entire guild for what was done to my beloved little girl.
I had travelled far in search of my sword training and it took many days to get back, on top of a hill not far from my home I spied the local village it was good to see something I know again, but wait was I seeing things , no there approaching the village was a horde of monsters, heading straight for the village, I had no hope of reaching the village in time but ran like the wind in a vain hope I would be in time.
The monsters were in the village killing all in their path, when with a loud boom a portal opened and out pored the guild I was bent on destroying, and set about defeating the monsters, it was but a short time later I entered the village all the monsters had been slain or driven off by the guild.

On walking down a street where many friends lived I spied the Magi whose spell struck my little girl down, in blind rage my hand went to my sword but stopped  as it was about to draw, I saw in his arms was a good friends little girl, he had tears streaming down his face and I was close enough to hear him say, \"five years ago I harmed one same as you and now I have a chance to try and undo some of the harm I did\", with that he chanted a spell and cured the girl who up to this point was near death.
On hearing his words and seeing what he did to save the girl my anger and pain was drained from me , I approached and gently took the girl from him and gave him all my tria, he looked at me in shock as he recognized me , with a warm smile to him I walked to my neighbor\'s house and  gave the little girl to her frantic parents.

I then went home to my family and told my wife all that had happened in the five years I had been gone, she said she was pleased that the fire was gone from me, and to be truthful so was I as I did not like to feel such hatred, and hope I will never again do so.

In the five years I was away from home I used the portals to go to places I had been before. One such place was the land of man, a race called Human.

They were, to look at,Ylian, and indeed, I felt we must have been descended from them. They were a peaceful people and very friendly, but knew the art of the sword.
I spent two years there with them in a land called England. One day a runner came to the Castle where  I was staying and he had grave news; the neighboring lord had invaded them and was burning and looting all in his path, runners were sent out and the call to arms came. I decided that I needed to test my skill so answered the call. On going to the ramparts I did see a sight I had never seen before; rank and file was lined up all around the castle four deep.
Siege weapons to the rear were throwing huge boulders at the castle and rendering great damage to it, flight after flight of arrows some with flame were loosed upon us. After what seemed just a moment in time, from their ranks came what looked like a tortoise covered in shields and headed straight for the main gate, at the same time huge wooden towers were moving towards the walls, I could see they were filled with men armed to the teeth. A shout went up and archers let fly at the towers and the strange tortoise form and fire buckets were placed all  around the ramparts, soon most of the towers were in flames and screams of great pain were heard and flaming bodies fell from the towers. A few made it to the walls and a ramp fell and men poured from it. The fight was on. I moved forward and killed the first I saw with one blow; with this, my blood boiled and I flew into the fray like a man possessed; slashing here and there, hacking limbs from bodies. It seemed an eternity had passed in my blood lust, but it was just a few hours. We were victorious; the tower was now in flames and the rest were soon the same, it was then that I heard the pounding sound coming from the main gate.
The tortoise was a cover of shields to enable a group of men to carry a huge pole; a tree-trunk carved with the shape of a rams head; to the gate to batter it down. The odd one here and there were picked off with arrows and struck down by large chunks of rock. Some poor souls were covered in molten tar and their screams still haunt me to this day;  I feel this is no way to die. But there was no time to grieve for them as with a terrible cracking of wood and a shower of wood splinters, some as big as a mans arm, the gate gave way. I saw one man\'s head pinned to a door, suspending him a foot off the ground his arms and legs twitching. But no time, the ranks of the invading lord surged forward and were in the castle, fighting was intense many fell on both sides and all looked lost as we were greatly out numbered. It was then that I heard the strange sound, which I later learned was called the bagpipes, the battle cry of my host lord\'s allies, announcing their arrival and intension to join the fray. With blood curdling screams, these men in kilts ran screaming at the invading forces, many on sight of these fierce warriors fled in terror; I soon saw why. They had no fear or concern for there own safety, they entered the fray and proceeded to slaughter any who stood in their way. Their main weapons being axe and clayesmore, I saw hundreds slain;  heads rolled and arms severed, and in but a few hours it was done, the army was dead or gone the war won.
I help clean up the dead and berry them as i had lost many good friends that day. After the work was done i went to the lord of the castles and asked him of these strange men in kilts, he replied \"they were called Scots, and if you be there friend you have made a friend for life, but if a enemy you be to them your life will be short\". We further talked and after a good half on hour the clan leader came in to talk to the lord, he looked me up and down and stared at me for a good minute not a word was said, i stared back no menace in my eyes just curiosity, he then drew out two small sword nether of us taking there eyes from each other, i showed no fear as i was shore he meant me no harm, he took two brisk steps towards me and stooped seeing i made no move towards my sword he roared with lafter and said, \"i saw you fight laddy and was impressed by your carriage and if you will except these toys i will be honored\", i gladly excepted and the lord introduced us, i asked him why he called the Frosty short sword toys. with a booming laff he said to me and mine they are, we use the clayesmore and axe, one look at him or anyone of his clan you could see why, huge mussels and pride they would be insulted  to fight with such a sword.

 To be continued.

Long into the night we talked and joked, as morning came upon us he asked me to go with him to his home lands and visit , i gladly accepted as i felt i had a lot to learn from this proud race,

For many days we journeyed into the hills of Scotland, and finally in the distance i saw a huge castle on top of a hill. This was the clan leaders home, and i was impressed at the size of it, ramparts and moat walls smooth as a calm pond and a draw bridge so big it could hold easily a army running across it.

I was show to a room that was to be my home for the next few weeks, after stowing my gear I went down to the huge common room and we all enjoyed a hearty meal, I was eager to learn from these clansmen after seeing them fight I felt I could learn a lot from them. After a lot of joking and talk of my homeland we discussed a training program for me, It was going to be very different from what i was accustomed to and very hard but I was determined to learn. Indeed i did learn to use large axe and claymore, not my normal weapons but thy certainly have there use in a fight were brut force is required rather than speed, the damage they could do was staggering. Wear-as my short sword requires speed and accuracy they just needed brut strength and in most cases one blow would be enough for a kill, or at lest do very serious damage.

Also I learnt a lot about loyalty but at the time that did not sink in as i was burning with hatred for the magis guild. It was time for me to go home and take my revenge. the end to this is covered in my opening post.
