Timarius:  Try opening updaterconfig.xml in TextEdit instead of a web browser, then you will be able to see and edit the entire file.  The .xml extension makes the computer think it\'s a web file.

Thanks!
Daniel

so everything is going fine now. the game mostly works and we\'ve got an updater for anything extra. but hows about giving us a little heads up when the next big down time will be.
thanks

December... ish? That\'s the general feeling I get, but hopefully it won\'t be a \"big\" downtime this time. We\'ll get the update out fast (I hope). :)

I seem to have a solution to the Nvidia/10.3.9 problem, but it will require a binary update.  I\'ll let you all know when it happens!

Regarding things like dark polygons in the deathrealm and elsewhere, we now know exactly what causes it, but in this case there is unfortunately no \"good\" solution.  I relight locally and don\'t run the updater, some people run without lightmaps.

Regarding pssetup crashing, that is because I deleted an important file before making the update.  Sorry \'bout that!

Thanks,
Daniel

greetings everybody
I learnt from the \"news\" page of planeshift.it that the issue of the black textures in the death realm has been fixed. \"cool :) my character will leave it soon!\" i thought.
yes, but when i launched updater.app, a problem occurred because of the mirrors - sorry but i don\'t really know what exactly, \'cos i was doing sumthing else at the same time, but i just noticed that the updater had closed on its own - , so that i decided to launch ChaOs\'s updater.jar. no problem this time, all the files were updated, including the art/world/deathrealm.zip one. then launched psclient : it has came back to its .011 version!
of course there was no way to join the server because of the version, so i opened updater.app once again. even if it wasn\'t the right version either (1.0.2.6 instead of 1.0.2.8), the updating seemingly succeeded. but right now, psclient, pssetup and updater.app won\'t run anymore :\'( updater.jar is the only one that still works, but it says that all the files are up-to-date.
of course i know that the \"unexpected quit\" problem has already been addressed, but i haven\'t found the right answer in the existing thread, and i really don\'t know what to do to solve this.
Should i download again the whole package from the \"downloads\" page of the  planeshift\'s site? please tell me what to do or show me the threads dealing with this that i might not have noticed?
thanks

Have you read Important:  READ BEFORE POSTING: A Guide to Running Planeshift on Mac OS X (  1 2 3 ) try No.
4. The next step (once the update is finished) is to set the permission bits so that you can run the client. You\'ll need to set the permission bits through Terminal. Open Terminal, located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal(.app). In the Terminal window, type \"cd \" (note the space \" \" after \"cd\"). Then, locate your Planeshift 3D folder in the Finder and drag it into the open Terminal window. Press return.
Then type:
\"chmod 755 psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient\"
and press return.

And then type:
\"chmod 755 pssetup.app/Contents/MacOS/pssetup\"
and press return.

Finally, type
\"chmod 755 updater.app/Contents/MacOS/updater\"
and press return.
hope this is your problem, good luck.    :))

well, seems like i should have read the guide a little more, heh? actually it was the first time i used the terminal but thanks to ChaOs\' tips it was not very difficult...
i\'ll remember what to do if that happens again. now PS runs and it\'s the right version, thanks for the help r.guppy  ;)
see you all later out of the death realm! :P

Updater.jar does this automatically, however, only when it updates. If you want to make it do it, delete a small file (something like vfs.cfg) and then run Updater.jar.
