Problem with shift key
« on: November 06, 2005, 10:35:41 am »
Hi all,

I have problem with my shift key because if i press it once, it remains pressed (not really on keyboard, but only its state).

I have same problem in enemy territory but in planeshift problem is bigger, cause with pressed shift i cannot select objects, people, move camera... nothing.

Thank you for every idea, i\'m verry unhappy from this :(

My system is:

Debian GNU/Linux Sid/Experimental
Gnome 2.10
latest planeshift with installer and patch from this forum
xorg (but in enemy problem was also with xfree)

perhaps you should try testing instead of unstable/experimental. things are known to be broken in unstable/experimental (that\'s where the names are from). testing often proves to be a better choice if you aren\'t a debian-developer.
if you are: my biggest excuses and thank you for providing us with debian, but you should think about installing testing on a machine for gaming, ... ;) :D

Hmm, I think this is not problem of unstable or testing, I can see this problem for a long time. I\'m not approved debian developer, but long time user and I think that unstable is better for gaming (there are most recent versions of apps) and that I must use it, so I can report bugs, making translations and so on.

But to be sure about this, I tried this a year ago also on testing with same result, i think that branch of distribution is not the problem...

So, after two years with this problem :) I found where it is.

Option      \"XKbOptions\" \"grp:shift_toggle, grp_led:scroll, compose:ralt\"

grp:shift_toggle in xorg.conf (or xfree one) which is for changing keyboard causes it. Same if you set both shift toggle group in gnome keyboard setting.

So found where bug is but I\'m not really happy from it. I\'m used to switch my keyboard layout with both shifts and now I must convert :)
