I wish planeshift, would spend some money on a half way decnt server, thats up 24/7 most users are turned away when you release a tec demo, and it doesnt work. People are very discouraged, and think bad thoughs this is JMO and thought you would all like to know

Well, ARE YOU A COMPLETE IDIOT THIS IS A FREAKIN FREE GAME. YES IT SHOULD BE PAY TO PLAY BUT EVERYONE IS A CHEAP ASS AND WONT PAY. MAYBE IF YOU WANT TO DONATE SOME MONEY OR A SERVER IF NOT  THEN SHUT THE HELL UP!

It is hard not to flame this post (or the poster too, for that matter), eh Link?

How can you ask the dev team, who work for free and charge you absolutely nothing for the game, to have a server with the same quality as those from big gaming companies? It is completely unreasonable. They are not even asking for donations.

If you want them to spend money, then send them some. Yes, they should get paid for making PlaneShift, but they don\'t. The only way they will invest on servers is if you donate money. So if you are not willing to donate, do not demand better servers.

If people are discouraged because the servers do not work, then they do not understand the effort the team is doing to create PS. I say it is the best for everybody if those people leave. They do not have to tolerate the \"crappy servers\", and we do not have to tolerate them. Fair enough, right?

I\'ve said it before also, I really don\'t believe the Tech Demo was released so that everyone who wanted a free game could come play it. It was more to give the real fans of PS a glimpse of the final.

Well a few problems here.  First is that where do we get this money?  None of us is paid to work on PlaneShift and it generates no cash.  Anything like this would have to be funded out of pocket.  Getting a large amount of bandwidth is not cheap and there is no easy way to get it.  Second we don\'t need a high quality server yet since we are still in the development stage.

Hmm, from the people that I talk to online and from the emails that Luca gets we see the totally opposite reaction.  People are very excited and have only encouraging things to say.

I\'ll be the first to admit that there are people that have trouble connecting.  But we try our best to help those people out so they can get a glimpse of the world we are trying to create.  For free I think that we are doing a pretty good job :)

You guys say it all.
For a project like this, PlaneShift has a great server and even greater people working on it. The only people who are discouraged by trying the techdemo and were hoping for a full game can: 1) not read 2)just dont wanna read the site or 3)too blind after seeing the word \'free\'.

And as you can see we\'ve got a great community here which only consist out of players who understands what it is to get a game running.
