Ojaroad is Black!
« on: November 07, 2005, 12:57:35 am »
The trees and my character look as if they have light shining on them, as do the giant rocks, and that insanely huge, physics defying rock in the middle of it all, but all of the rest (other than the afore mentioned and the sky) is nearly black. I can only see the contrast between the road and the grass if  I get two inches from my screen and squint. I\'ve died three times now cause I didn\'t see the drop/slide below me and I fell. Just need to know if that\'s me, or it\'s the game, cause I just reinstalled and it\'s still there =P.
Love is not an emotion. Love is a state of being when two souls of a perfect match find their way together. I had that, and still do, though I may never see my love on this physical plane again. Now you know why I am the way I am. ~Nixe

Until either lighting is fixed, or the textures are exchanged with brighter ones: Try to use \"gamma correction\" (externally, the game doesn\'t support it). Search the board for hints, thee are several topics about \"gamma correction\".

I\'m having the same issue, before I enter Akkaio now I simply turn the brightness up, works also for the Death Realm.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

Yes, I tried fullbright last night and while I was ingame (before the server crashed and I ended up in an infinite loop spawning in mid air in the death realm and plummeting to my death) it worked wonderfully.  Where has this been all my PS life?  ;)  I can finally see!

To make it work, find the icon where you launch PS, either on the desktop or the start menu (assuming you are using windows).  Edit the command line and just add -fullbright at the end.  And if you don\'t know how to access the command line, just right click on the icon and select properties.

Right-click on the shortcut, and add -fullbright as shown in the screenshot :)

Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

When you get back ingame, some graphics that looked shadowy or dark before don\'t seem a bit brighter?

WOW I CAN FINALLY SEE STUFF!!!!
I should add- put a space between the Target line (C:\\program files\\Planeshift Crystal Blue\\psclient.exe) etc. and the \'fullbright\'. Otherwise you\'ll just get a message saying \"Check command line is correct\" or some such.

Enjoy your enhanced vision!
Planeshift rocks!!!

Actually, if you want to take the time to relight the ojaroad map, it looks quite nice.

Running PlaneShift normally, travel to the ojaroad map, then quit.  Open up a command prompt, change to the directory containing the PlaneShift binaries, and enter the command  psclient -relight (or whatever the equivalent for your operating system is).  Log in.

Go eat a meal or something (on a 3GHz machine, it took about 14 minutes to complete; on a 1.8GHz box, 33 minutes).

Once it\'s finished, exit and run PlaneShift normally (otherwise you\'ll have to wait for a relight every time you cross into a different map).
