new deathrealm.zip download failing
« on: November 07, 2005, 04:07:32 pm »
Hi All,

So I\'m trying to update (1.0.2.7) and it sees that it needs the new deathrealm and starts the download.  When it\'s done it says that it has failed MD5 checksum and then says it is completed.  Also, trepor.zip tries to download every time I try to update.  Could someone check those files?

Also I\'d like to be able to cut and paste from the updater.

Thank you!

1. If trepor.cal3d is updated again and again: Delete art/models.zip before running updater. The whole models.zip will be re-downloaded. It was the only way for me.
2. Laanx server has different (the good one and bigger) version of deathrealm.zip. Switch to mirror 2 or ask devs to fix it (to Developers: fix it please.)

For me, it has been downloading deathrealm.zip each time I updated, so now I have set it to readonly (it downloaded the exact same version each time, anyway). Models.zip is readonly, anyway, so everything is set there. :)

But yes, this should be addressed, because these repetitive, meaningless downloads of comparatively large files surely add a lot of wasted bandwidth.

Bugtracker issue #1254

Plus two already existing threads about the same problem; why is it so hard to read before writing?

Sorry about the post without a search.  I usually search for problems first, but I thought I was on to something...  I should have known better, there are too many people playing this game for me to be the first to find something.  Plus, when I do a search for a problem, it generally becomes a manual search within a search as sixty hits are generally produced.  When you want to play and don\'t have a lot of time to research a problem...  I guess one tends to be lazy.  So after further thought and writing all this, it has become apparant that if one doesn\'t have time to search for the bugs encountered, don\'t post; which saves everyone time.  I got it.
