Identification
« on: November 25, 2002, 03:09:33 am »
Ok, since there are now a total of 2 organizations ( The BISM and MoPS) I was thinking there should be some way that the members could use to identify theirselves, of course, they both contain secret members...so it is up to the leader and future organizations which im sure will develop

This could be used in many IMPORTANT situations, such as showing them to a blacksmith of the same organization to get prices off, also to gain entry to certain houses specified by the leaders (if one has been bought) if the organization is big people may not know everyone else  ;)

So here is how I was thinking it would go

The organization leader registers it to planeshift (that reminds me, need support for those)

Next the leader is given the ability to make cards that go into the inventory of each member that the leader gives them too (for free)

As the leader gains money he can upgrade to fancier symbols by spending money (each item will cost $$$, so only high-up and known members would be given these things, it can also go for guilds)

That\'s about it.......

Hmm, but what if someone who doesn\'t belong to one of those orginizations gets his hands on one of those items? (ex, steals it from you or gets it when he kills you in a duel)

Sooner or later loads of ppl could get in those buildings, just because they acquired that item somewhere.

Maybe only the owner can carry it?

the answer to that is simple. you simply do not lose those kind of items. no matter what happens.

Interesting idea, Kiern.  I haven\'t ever thought about organizations with secret members.  I think we should find a good way to do this.

Perhaps the identification of other members/or organisation buildings, could be learned as a skill, taught to you by the organisation leaders once you have proved yourself to be a loyal and trustworthy member. Then recognition of another fellow member or building could just be through cursor information pop-ups (or however information will be displayed).

Great idea, Kiern! I also have an idea for secret members, too...

Perhaps secret members in organizations could be \'Anonymus\' when entering buildings that the leader of an organization buys, and that many other members can see the secret member is while in member-only places. Since no other member of the organization, except the head group, can know who the secret members are, it could be like that. Also, the head group can have some sort of ability that tells them which anonymus member is who.

I\'m assuming that the webiste of the organization will have a list of what kinds of symbols equals what kind of rank. Anyways there should be something special that the higher ranks could have that would make people want to get up those ranks.

Well, anyways, good idea, Kiern!

Another long and boring post by  me... :P

You pay the same price for doing something halfway as for doing it completely. So you might as well do it completely.

I like the idea of Guild ID cards. However, i don\'t think they should be no drop. It could act like a fake ID. Clearly you\'re not going to be able to go up to the guild it\'s from and use it, they\'d definately be smarter than that. However, you could use it in other, more devious ways. Let\'s say a fighters guild has an trade pact with a smiths guild, and can get cheap weapons from them. A thief steals an Id card from the fighters guild, and then uses it to get a discount on a few items. There could be other uses too, such as inciting guild war. 3 guilds are all in the same area, and frequently have conflicts. One of them aquires a Id card of one of the other two. They then have some hired individual either rob, or attack, or try to steal from some one in the third guild, and then they use that ID card to get the two opposite guilds fighting. I think these cards would yield a lot of pollitical intrigue. Great idea Kiern!

Exactly!

But these ID cards will have names on them.  You will have to be able to \"modify\" them.  Perhaps some skill for it.

Good call Aruneko, some kind of forgery skill. This could probably have some other uses, but i can\'t think of any others at the moment. Or possibly a disguise skill, Where you can make people think you\'re someone else? Both are good possibilities, and make rogues and espianage a very important part of the game, and guild warfare.

These seem like decent ideas.  But couldn\'t the same thing be accomplished with secret words or other tipoffs?
