How to start?
« on: November 09, 2005, 11:28:53 pm »
Hello, I am new to the game.

I am just wondering how to go about starting?  Like what should I do to have an easy time and what should I create?

Thank you in advance, its good to see real help for people unlike other games... (Just left WoW)

Greetings!

This is a roleplaying game first and foremost, so what you create isn\'t as important as what you want to be. And then you can change everything in-game, too :) Explore the character creation process - all of your choices affect this or that stat, but everything can be trained, too. The game is rather limited at the moment in terms of real mechanics (i.e., jobs, professions, trades, etc.) but these can be roleplayed without any problems whatsoever. And there are no classes and no levels, so if you want to have an \"easy time,\" just act in-character ;)

Or perhaps you meant something else?

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Then just select whatever race you want, pick a suitable roleplaying name (there are rules stickied in the forums and available for viewing on the main website), run through the character creation, and bam, jump right in ;)

Newbie orientation

Once I tried shouting in the game \"All newbies are invited at Harnquist the blacksmith shop for a new player orientation! A must for all newbies. Training starts in next 5 mins\". Guess no one came even after half an hour!

I plan to run such an in-game group training for newbies whenever I encounter any newbie from now onwards. It\'s always better to train them in groups, from within the game. That way they can ask questions freely, and learn pretty fast.

Still, it wouldn\'t be a bad idea to add a mini-tutorial in Planeshift.
