Need a hobby
« on: November 11, 2005, 04:29:04 am »
I finnaly did it.

I cancelled my WoW account after 2 level 60\'s and molten core for both.  Ive had enough.

Time to move onto bigger and better things.

Its been three days and im longing to play WoW, but when I think about logging on I dread it.. its the strangest feeling ever

Now that I have loads of free time, I need to dedicate it to something.  I used to come home from school, do homework, Play WoW till about 8pm, work out till 9, then play WoW till I was tired enough to sleep

Now I need something to dedicate myself to. What do you all do/play?

I was looking at upcoming MMORPG\'s (because they\'re my thing)  And Dark and Light looks incredible except for one crucial element.. and that is the animations and world look incredible stiff and fake like.. but in still life it looks great.

EQ2 same old linear grind till 60..  no pvp.  boring

D&D online is all instances.. blah.

And I dont see much else on the horizon.  So I was thinking about other junk to do..  and then i realised my life is empty (not really in a negative way) so what does everyone here do when they arent sleeping, schooling, or eating.?

Or you could pick up a sport. Like fencing ;)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

In my free time? What is that?
No seriously, I play EQ2 (which does have PvP since 2 months) a lot recently, go to work a lot recently, and aside from that I spend my time with friends (the usual stuff, pub, hanging out, blah. :) ).

Aside from that... hmm, I don\'t really do much, for lack of interest and lack of time to seriously pursue another hobby.

EDIT: Oh, how could I forget?
I pretty regularly induldge myself in the evil and certainly satanic arts of pen&paper roleplay, usually ShadowRun (now 4th edition), but also Earthdawn, RoleMaster, Traveller, ... whatever gets the most votes on an evening. ;)
The internet is "the terrorists'" most important weapon, they say.
Wrong.
Fear is their most important weapon.
Ours is our freedom.

When I was in H.S., I would play D&D, read the great philosophers, write dreadful poetry, go on 4-6 hour urban hikes (just walk the city), do historical recreation and I learned to play 12 instruments, then started performing rather regularly.

Yeah, start a band.  That\'s the best use of your time.  It will actually get you girls.  And it\'s social.

I do Play golf, But its nearly snowing where I am. Im on the school team and I will be wrapped up in it all spring.

I also Ski, but there isnt snow as of yet.. and because of Skiing\'s expensive nature I can only do it about once a week.

Hehe..  I did just like what I heard about EQ2, tell me more!

I heard something about PVP. but do you need the expansion?

How is the leveling pace, I hope most of the world isnt instanced. Is there a large assortment of equipment to choose from? How large are the zones, How large is the world in general. have to have a large world. What about mounts, About how many cities are there? Is there other things to do besides fight and quest that will keep one interested? How is solo ability, Do you need parties that much, and if so are they hard to find? and lastly  is the combat fun and adictive.. nothing worse than boring combat

Wait, now you want to give up WoW for EQ2?  Have you learned nothing? :)

Go be amongst people.  There is a world out there with actual, 3D human beings in it!  You can talk to them and they will take back.  Sure, no emoticons, and they have to use their faces to express how they feel, but with a little time you\'ll get those, too.

Okay, I\'ll shut up now.

lmao.  I do play alot of pc games, but I am not a shut in. lol

I do hang out with my friends after school.. see movies on friday nights.  and make mischeif.   but i also enjoy mmorpg\'s when im not doing any of that.. especially because I live on a dead end street in the middle of the woods and no neighbors for about a half mile.   so I hang with my friends and go to high school dances and stuff when i get the chance.. but Its not like a live int he city and I can just go out.

Heres my house

and If you go into the woods behind my house the about a half mile you come to hecla lake

Hmm... well the next MMORPG that I will play is still a few years off or so.  Vanguard.  Its made by the developers of EQ.. but im hoping it will have alot more substance.  As for hobbys.. the only one I have is video games :P.  Ive been bored off my ass for the last week or so, and yeah, I went to the WoW site and I was thinking \"hmm that may not be soo bad again\" :P... A friend did talk me into picking morrowind and im not regreting it yet :).  But I know the feeling your having, game withdrawals can get pretty bad and then eventually you sit there wanting to play a game and there is nothing in site you want to play.. then you end up doing nothing and just wasting your time until you find another game that you devote your life too :D

Yea thats basicly it.

Ive read almost every review on the internet for EQ2, played the trial, and I just got back from Best Buy and i looked at the box and stuff..

I just cant tell If its enough to be fun for a long time. The free trial was good.. but you know how it is when you try a new game.. its always wicked fun for a week or so.. but when you come down off that high.. then you know if its a good game or not.

Farewell Moogie, Farewell Draklar, Farewell Drey. you will be missed.
