Can't see labels
« on: November 11, 2005, 11:06:38 pm »
For some reason, I can\'t see everyone\'s name and guild.  This get very annoying sometimes when I want to look at a certain person in a group of the same race.  It has been like this since the DR change.

Cross sectors means to enter another map, basically. Hitancrias had this problem earlier, and it seemed to fix itself with a sector cross.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

For example, if you are at the plaza, near the forge: Run into the tunnel to the arena. After the arena map loaded, come back to the plaza.

I often experience that several labels are not shown right after logging in ( although I set my \"Label options\" to \"Always show\" ). Then I can reliably fix it by using the \"/unstick\" function one time.

going into different \"areas\" like going from DR to hydlaa to Oja does nothing.  Could it possilby have to do with the --fullbright thing I added?  Cuz I also noticed, I can\'t see people\'s hair color (all are black) even the ones that are dyed colors.

Updating in \"recover mode\" will enable you to update even outdated DLL files from the graphic engine, which may be a reason that more current effects are not displayed properly.

Also, during one of the updates, the game settings had been reset. It will be usefull to check the \"Labels\" page in the \"Options\" window in game, if they are still set to \"Always visible\", or only to \"Visible on mouser\".

I\'ll try to update in recover mode

And yes (thought I said before) I checked the options, and they are set to always on.

This bug doesn\'t have anything to do with the updater or the game options. It is related to information coming from the server not being processed or lost AFAICS, because it affects random labels, including NSCs. If you relog, which label is displayed is randomised anew, which can rage from all to none.
When new players enter the area, or you enter a new area, it is also re-randomised for each person that comes into your area.

The labels are just broken at the moment, that\'s all.  :(
