more interactive environment
« on: November 13, 2005, 11:50:58 pm »
Hello all!

With the NPC client broken since I\'ve joined the game I\'ve spent most of my time mining. I\'ve also done a lot of sightseeing and the scenery is beautiful! My only wish is that the environment be more interactive. I would like to be able to read the books on display and be able to pick up and do things with more objects in the game. Perhaps there could be more quests that finding a hidden item rather than buying one so new players can make a little capital to begin their adventuring business.

Thanks to the developers for taking on this project. It is a great idea and has enormous potential!

P.S.: Sorry, I just read the \"why\" post. Here goes I feel that my suggestions would make the PlaneShift world more immersive and realistic (for example, books could contain information on politics, history, hints about other things in the world). Interacting with objects will help players feel more involved in the world. It would also just make the game a little more interesting and fun. :)

Definitely a good suggestion, but one that has been suggested in the past, and is similar to the wish of having more skins, better items, etc., in that it\'s rather obviously on the To-Do List. Full interaction with the landscape and environment is quite a ways off, but we\'re getting there.

We have a system for that but we have not fully utilized it yet.  With this system you will be able to interact with items on a map.

Yea!!!   Good ideas already in progress is always good.

What kind of items are we talking about?  Chopping trees? Fishing in Lakes?  Is it this, or what exactly are we talking about?

Right now limited to clicking on things to get more information.  But we can surely expand out into those areas that you mention.

Hello,

Good to know things are in the works. For the immediate future I think it would be good for there to be a quest that doesn\'t require money to complete. I myself got lucky. A kind stranger gave me money to do the Sack quest so I could get started. Others that I\'ve introduced to the game and have given up on it.

Thanks

You can pick mushrooms - they spawn in various locations (not as many as there used to be) and sell these to raise the money for your first quest.

(Maybe the devs could give us more mushrooms while we are waiting for the NPC client to be fixed?)

Are the mushrooms worth anything now? Last I checked, they brought no profit whatsoever.

I\'ve only found one mushroom. Its sale gives you one tria.

Mushrooms have always sold for one tria as far as I know. Also killing a single rat will give you between 0 and 14 trias. Kill a handful of those and you\'ll have enough to start on several quests. Not all quests cost money either. The ones that don\'t cost anything are a bit more complex though, they require you to run back and forth a bit and interrogate several NPC\'s ... but as far as I know most of those quests aren\'t working right yet.
