Character Select is empty
« on: November 15, 2005, 03:06:24 pm »
I\'m a problem today.
My email address and password are there and correct, but when I click ok, the character page has no text other than back, quit, and character select across the top.  It says Waiting on server data.. but it goes away after acouple seconds.
I\'ve never had trouble connecting in the past and nothing has changed with any of my settings. I even updated just incase.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

thankyou
Lepall

Try to go back and re-login first. If that doesn\'t help, run the recover-mode...

Sometimes options don\'t appear because of data loss, but normally relaunching the game again solves the problem.
Perhaps a screenshot of what you see would help, I\'d suggest in the meanwhile that you update your graphic card drivers and that you ensure that there\'s full connectivity between your pc and laanx, that is, ensure port 7777 udp is open for both incoming and outgoing connections to laanx.fragnetics.com

Well here\'s the login window

and here\'s the empty character select window

I don\'t know how to check the port I just open PS and it has run good for the past 3 months or so.

Also beside Fragnetics there numbers that range from about 300 to around 400 all the time and 0% to about 10%.  I have no idea what those are but if it helps to know.

It indeed seems like a packet data loss.
The number 300-400 states your ping, that means the number of ms that you spend to send info to the server and back to you.
The number at its right 0-10% states the stimated amount of data loss (that is messages you don\'t get the answer) apparently you\'ve no connectivity problems, and the amount of loses is too low as to consider that every single time you try to log in the data is lost.
I really don\'t think a graphic driver update is going to help, but if noone suggest anything, it can be worth a try.

Alright I ran this test on broadbandreports.com, I don\'t totally understand it but it says my packet loss is ok
http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1902189

So I\'m really confused for some reason it seems I\'m not recieving anything back from the PS server.

-edit:  new videocard driver didn\'t help either...
I also copied the whole planesift folder to a diff. computer next to me and had the same problem.
I also tried to create a new account with a diff. email and the widow came up empty still.
maybe things will work better tomorrow :(

I have an USB drive that I have a copy of PS on so it\'s more portable, and I use it here at home.  anyway this one hasn\'t been updated in awhile and I can create a new account/character from it but I still can\'t see anything in the character select screen if I login with the old account I\'ve been using?
It\'s almost like everything with the email address and password that I\'ve been using has been deleted off the server side-it\'s just not there, but I can create a new account with a new email address...also it tells me the first name Lepall is already taken when I try to create a new character.
I guess the wipe came early for me and I\'m fine with that.  I just wish I knew why it happened so it doesn\'t happen to someone else.

edit- I just created a new account and I am playing as a new character-Lapall.  If anyone finds my familiar ring I\'d love to have that back...

I saw you ingame with Lapall.
Lapall and Lepall have the same model (race)?

I think you need to creat another char in Lepall  account, with a different race, and/or another char in Lapall account with the same race as Lepall.
Like that you may figure out if you have a problem with your files.

Try to remember what you have done before that problem showed, that could cause it.
