Well frankly I don\'t think it is, after 5 years of perfecting fighting and now trying to crush it.
Is fighting being crushed? Has anything official been announced to that effect or is this just pure speculation? Combat has a part to play in a game such as Planeshift, and if there is any truth in what you say, it would be a sad day indeed.
However I believe that it, (combat), really only need play an minor part in comparison to other aspects of the game, and hence become more \'realistic\' within the overall scope of the game.
It fairly plain to see when browsing through the skills list that bigger things are in store for Planeshift than a \'hack and slash game\'.
While it is undisputable that some players, (test players if you like), focus their game sessions around combat, there are many also who look to other activities in the game, mining, exploration and, (dare I say it), roleplay.
I for one am such a character.
Admitedly I take advantage of combat, in order to develop my character in particular ways, (it is the most effective way of accumulating PP at present).
For example I have recently tried to gain access to the Laanx dungeon via the well. To do so I have spent many playing hours mining gold, training, learning magic, and eventually made it down there. And of course mined some diamonds in the process.
But what next I ask. I for one do not look forward to spending hours of playing time in the arena or mining and will welcome any developments that provide greater opportunities to explore / roleplay and quest.
Quite frankly if there is a concerted effort to shift the focus away from fighting then I whole heartedly welcome it, but to \"crush\" it, would not be wise.
