H?hle von den W?lfen

H?hle von den W?lfen (Cave of the Wolves)
It all started when our guild leader, Tiana, had a dream....
One day, whilst hunting, a storm of God-like magnitude began to roil. Seeking shelter, I found a cave where there was none before. The storm brewed and I slept. In this slumber, a dream or possible vision was presented to me. This vision was of creatures strange to me, yet familiar all at once. The creatures were that of Enkidukais who walked on all fours, but had Ubernaut faces. They called themselves wolves, and said that they were from another plane and time, that was intersecting with my own. The time that I spent with them was enough to fill 5 lifetimes, or so it seemed. They taught me the ways of the wolves, and how a pack lives, hunts, and learn together. During the time that I spent with them, they gave me a name, and called me Wolffrau (Wolf Woman). Because others would not understand the name given to me, I am simply called Tiana. Ever since the time that I spent with the wolves, I have been on a search, to find that wonderful cave and the creatures within.
_____________________________________________
Wolves, often strangers look upon them as being furious beasts that fear nothing or no-one. Although this may be true, in some cultures wolves are believed to be spiritual guides, that help people in their troubled times and times of hardship. Wolves are worshipped for their wit and perseverance and will often be seen as carriers of helping forefathers. This is what we are and that is what we do.

H?hle von den W?lfen is German for Cave of the Wolfs. Although we do not speak German it gives a beautiful sound to the house of such beautiful creatures. These caves are where we are from. The cave shelters us from the elements and foes, it allows us to live in peace and safety. All must have a place to call home, for ours was and is a cave.

This cave, seeming cold and desolate, allows us to live together as a family where friendships are made in trust and honesty. To learn, hunt, eat, sleep, and play together; no matter what?s happening around us, this is a place where all are welcomed, but only the earnest and good at heart can stay.

Many have come to taste our ways, many have come to our cave, seeking shelter and knowledge. Those who seek fame and fortune and easy ways will never walk in the path of the wolf. For no wolf will have his name used in vain, for the wolf still stands for honesty, friendship and truth. We share our shelter? knowledge? hunting? and? play to all. With open arms, minds, and hearts we welcome those that recognize the wolves way.

This is our home, our cave. For inside there is warmth and peacefulness unlike any other place that we know. You are welcome to come and stay, but only you can decide if you are ready to walk the wolves way?

On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?

(Website? Forums? Perhaps rules? ;) I\'m also not quite fond of using other languages in guild names, but for now it\'s your choice unless others form excellent arguments against it. Do you have a system of ranks?)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

We do have a system of ranks and heirarchy. I didn\'t want to post it here, but rather just give a little info about the guild. I had a friend post about our guild in the guild list, and I figured that anyone that is interested in finding out more about the guild and who we are and what we are about, would use the link listed there, along with the other guilds links.
We do have rules for our members that are clearly listed on the website.
I apologize for any misunderstandings about the  posting of the forums for our website, and take full responsibility. I hope that there might be someway that you could possibly merge the posting within this one, to avoid any confusion, and thank you for your understanding in the matter. The forums that we have is just merely so that if other guilds wish to contact us for more information concerning our guild or other matters, that they are more than welcome to do so. It is in an attempt to avoid such clutter within the PlaneShift forums.
We mean no disrespect to either PlaneShift staff or any other players. We only wish to play and enjoy the game as others may do, and to take any knowledge that we have about the game and to share it with those that aren\'t as familiar (new players) with the game as we are and to help in any way possible.

H?hle von den W?lfen has a brand new forum. We would like people to check it out and see what they think.

We encourage potential posters and other guilds to register and we have quite a lot of areas available to non-H?hle von den W?lfen members.

Being a German (greetings, friends), I had it simply called \"Wolfsh?hle\"; and we would probably prefer the o-Umlaut ( SGML Entity for \"?\" is \"ö\" ) to be written as \"oe\" instead of only \"o\".
__

One point that made me a little nervous is the fact that the Nazis called their headquarter \"Wolfsschanze\" (and some may remember the old cubic 3D shooter \"Castle Wolfenstein\"), and therefore I\'m afraid that a german name together with the the relation to a wolf cave may create associations of a Nazi related guild; during my talk in game the Boggoos convinced me that their intentions are not related to that in any way!

You can be sure that not all germans are militant, quite the contrary! I hope that this note will not lead into a talk about germans, politics and society - the guild is the center of attention, please...

Just a few words about the guild name:
The appropriate German translation of \"Cave of the wolves\" would be \"H?hle der W?lfe\", not \"H?hle von den W?lfen\". I mean your version is not directly wrong, but it sounds terrible if you say that to a German (at least to me). ;) Or you just calll it \"Wolfsh?hle\" (that means Wolf\'s cave), as LigH already suggested, but that\'s a rather \"unlucky\" choice, due to a historical name used in the middle of the last century.
And, last but not least, you should replace all umlauts by the two-letter equivalent, i.e. \"?\" becomes \"oe\" and so on, because people with another charset than the German one might have problems with umlauts.

Greetings from Germany

I thank my friends for so kindly pointing that out to me. I had no idea of the guild name being incorrectly pronounced, as we (the founders) are american, and sadly I must admit, that we used a free translation service online to translate the phrase \"Cave of the Wolves\". We mean no disrespect in our pronunciation of the term. Although we have many members from all over the world, we do not discriminate because we are all of the same mind.....we merely wish to help others.
As for the umlaut I will try to get that edited for the forums, so that others may be able to read it clearly with no problems.
I will discuss the matter with my co-founders and members of the guild in a possible name change. We have been given some good choices of Hoehle der Woelfe and Wolfshoehle, and will possibly be using one of those in the future. All suggestions are welcome though. We merely wish to play and help others when we can, and to not offend anyone or to be mistaken for something that we are not.
Thank you again.

P.S. I hope that I have spelled the above name choices properly. If not, let me know and I will change them.

I guess it\'s a typo only, but you missed the \"h\" in \"Wolfshoehle\".
The other name (Hoehle der Woelfe) is correct.
