Just standing there... very dramatically!
« on: December 08, 2005, 11:18:30 pm »
Hi all,

This isn\'t really a problem, but it sometimes annoys me. After I hide and unhide psclient, the combat music starts to play, even when I\'m doing nothing and there are no monsters about. Is there a way to prevent this?

Thanks

Very interesting... I\'ll have to look into this!  I\'m not sure what events are triggered by this, but it sounds pretty weird.

This thread is in a wrong forum, because the same happens with the Linux version. The combat music keeps playing after you attack an NPC. It is switched off after you kill the NPC, but comes back after 30 seconds or so. The same happens when the input focus is moved away from the Planeshift window (background music turns off) and then moved back (combat music starts playing).

I have the \"Loop background music\" option turned on, if that could make some difference. I will try to turn it off and see, whether there are any difference.

Hello again,

I posted this thread in the Mac forum because the music issue occurs when I hide/unhide (which I think is just a Mac thing) as opposed to minimizing the game window (which can be done on any platform). However, I also experience the problem that Bereror desrcibes. Perhaps there is more to this than I thought.

P.S. I don\'t believe I have the music looped, though I\'ll have to check.

Seems to be a repeatable bug

Turned the looping background music option off and still getting the same results. And it seems to be easily repeatable.

1. Attack an NPC and the combat music starts.
2. Kill the NPC and the music stops.
3. Move the input focus to another window (web browser for instance) and the combat music starts again.
4. Go back to the Planeshift window, do something that has another sound effect (use magic for example) and the combat music stops.
5. Go back to the point 3.

This started after the looping background music option was added (should we blame stfrn?  :P )

Erm, whoops :) Actually, the looping of background music should not have anything to do with this, but there were other music changes I amde, one specificially to prevent music playing in combat if you have the right settings on. I\'m not sure why it would have had this side effect, so I\'m not sure if I can fix it just yet.

Hello all,

I\'m not sure what happened, but I\'m no longer having this particular problem. Thanks and kudos to whoever fixed it!

Edit: Never mind, it\'s back. :(
