Corrupted installer?
« on: December 09, 2005, 08:02:23 pm »
I just finished downloading the installer via bittorrent.
When I try to run it it says the installer is corrupted.
Is this a problem on my end, or did somebody seed a busted file?

Ensure that the file has this size 271,438,388

The weird thing is that BT allowed to completely download a corrupted file, I thought it has some checksum or CRC that should try to prevent that.

I downloaded it from the non-BT link after shutting off my antivirus and it worked.
So now I don\'t know if it was the antivirus or a bad BT download. :/

I am having a similar problem.  I have downloaded the client from both mirrors.  Both times the size of the file was 271,438,388 bytes.  Both times when I try and run the executable I get the message below.  I do not have any anti-virus software running.

NSIS Error

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.  This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED).

Extracted from Planeshift download site:

Tip: You can check if the file you downloaded is exactly the same as the one we have here downloading this tool.

These is the md5 signatures for the Windows file:

PlaneShift_CBV0.3.012.exe: 461170690ab434c1041f1e2f023c621a

Is this the number you\'re getting too?

Anyway, if the installer says it\'s corrupted, it has to be. I think you\'ll have to redownload the client again, sadly. Better luck this time.
