My Bad, Karyuu is not a GM.  I think I typed that because it was gramatically easier to lump Karyuu and Drey together that way at this time of morning.

My only point, as if anyone cares, is that Kathag could catch more flys if he or she uses sugar instead of sheep dung.  Instead of trying to out perform them as Drey and Zanzibar would have you do, I would just use some of the letter keys on my keyboard for typing instead of hot keying them with target/attack commands.

i also think people should have a litle more respect.i was camping a trepor and some one came up and started killing it wiith out asking.that part didnt bother me but when i told him that i was here first and that would be happy to share it with him he said\"dont cry about it\"..thats made me very angry.and seeing how fast planeshift is growing i fear that this will only get worse.
bravery is not not being scared.it is being scared but doing it any way.

I want PS to stay friendly.  It is more than just a hack and slash game, but at this point in time when I have a choice to defeat a foe or mine, Killing something is a bit more exciting.  I however I always try not to be an ass.  If I see someone camped at a spawn point I go looking for another, there is always something else to kill.  If someone wants to kill a monster that I\'m killing I usually share it, or leave so that they can get a turn in.  And if I feel that I want to combat a foe (just to try him out) and someone is camped out there I always ask for a turn, and I have yet to be declined.  Courtesy should not be forced but acknowledged in this game, as it can only make the play experience better for everyone.
Every so often someone will show up usually more powerful than I and they steal my spawn point right out from under me without even asking.  I just shrug it off and leave, there are only a few of these jerks in the game and I choose to not associate myself with them.

I think you have exactly the attitude that you need to become a valuable and respected member of the Planeshift community.

Really?? If I am talking normally I would not expect to be heard 10 metres away let alone 25. It is bad enough that one can hear chat that one shouldn\'t be able to hear (eg upstairs in the tavern one can hear what people are saying downstairs), extending the range would make it worse. What is wrong with shouting or going up to the person to speak to them? I don\'t see anything wrong with the present range for /say.

Kythag, most players will respond kindly to a polite request and I would say that in game etiquette is the same as RL. Treat others as you would like them to treat you.

I feel I have a handle on the situation now.  I will use judgment to try to do the right thing.  Janner\'s, Zanzibar\'s, Drey\'s and other comments have helped to shape my ideas of what is expected of me and others in game.  Special thanks to Tangleknot\'s post:  This is the kind of discussion I enjoy about these things.  Something that gets to the heart of the matter without making comments about my keyboard and mouse being eaten(I am not stupid and comments like that sound very much like I am being told that).  Based on the comment I just made, please close this thread before it is used as another excuse to bash a GM.  I just wanted to make the comment on that statement and the effect it had so that it might be restated in the future.

I also wish the thread closed because my questions have been answered, and I now have a firm grip on what I believe I should do.  My apologies to any I have been short with in any way.  I always respond to any comments seen as inflammatory(whether they are or not, whether they were meant that way or not) in similar fashion.  Also, I wish to say that if I have offended you in game, use the tell command, don\'t just ignore me and do stuff in game to make the situation worse.  I believe that I am a quite reasonable person most of the time.

See you in game

Kythag

The problem is that it might take 20 minutes for a GM to come, if one comes at all.  Inconveniencing yourself by trying to reason with an idiot is just self-punishment.  And walking somewhere else?  That takes time, and there\'s no guarantee that the next place you go to won\'t be worse.

I don\'t advocate becoming one of the idiots.  But I DO advocate and actively teach people how to play on their level when necessary.  Don\'t cheat, but make sure you know how to defend yourself from exploits.

I find the /ignore to be a bit harsh.  I\'ve only actually used it on three people - and it was only after they insulted me, made threats, spammed my chat box, and refused to listen to reason.  It is another option though.

edit:  Kythag, I tried replying to your PM but it said that your user name doesn\'t exist.

In response, you\'re welcome and I agree.  It just takes all sorts I guess.

avoiding this topic like sheite on the path, but this was inevitable.

waiting 20 minutes for a GM to assist you after reading a petition is not a problem, its actually quite quick, considering most of us have jobs, all of us have lives, and liek the devs we do this in our spare time, half thetime the petition submitter is offline anyway, so how about you pull your head out that dark hole you shoved it in and be a little patient with the people giving their time to help you huh?

certainly you don\'t have to be patient with me, I don\'t really care what flame summary you can conjur up next, but with every other GM, I suggest you have some courtesy.

as for the entire subject, its annoying as hell, someone \'kill stealing\' and someone whining about someone \'kill stealing\' honestly both parties need to shut up and grow up. it\'s a game!

lol, You never miss an opportunity to insult me, do you?:)  It\'s pathetic that you aren\'t over this yet.  And no, I don\'t have a problem with the GMs.  Just individuals.  But of course, you should know that this isn\'t the place to discuss such things.

If you log on and want to play around with fighting creatures, and some jerk is ruining your fun, then it can be annoying or even frustrating if you have to sit by helpless for any amount of time.

So yes, I am patient, I do respect the GMs unless they act like children, and it is a problem if a person is griefing you and you can\'t stop it.  Sometimes GMs come after only few minutes, and sometimes they come straight away.  And yes, sometimes, no GMs are available or the ones who are around are busy.  I\'m not faulting the GMs.  I\'m giving the tools people need to help themselves.

Grow up???!!!

I was simply asking what the protocols were so I would know how to handle a situation like that.  The other party isnt even here.   I am tired of being insulted everytime I ask a simple question or post something that someone disagrees with.  Goodbye  no more PS for me.

Dont bother posting replies, I will NOT be back.

I\'ve missed a lot of opportunites actually, sometimes because i was blatantly unaware, other times your just not worth the effort, like now really, except that what you are doing by \'helping a player find another way to prevent it\' is actually making the GM sound bad, yeah I\'m a bad GM personally, I\'ve done tons of stupid things, and I bet you can name them all, but this isn\'t a personal matter.

if your playing around with creatures and you think your fun is ruined by some jerk you need to take a step back and realise how silyl your acting over a game.
it\'ll only become annoying and frustrating if you let it do so, and if your so lazy you can\'t be bothered to walk your character to a nearby creature I\'d suggest booking yourself into a hospital, a common or mental one would suffice either way.

(now please take note, the last sentence of that paragraph was not a direct insult, but an example remedy of the said paragraph above)

patient? you? sent a complaint to the Dev\'s because a GM didn\'t answer a petition for 20 minutes? mhm :]

taking matters of griefers into your own hands is in general, not advised, as most players ideas and solutions turn the situation into a hell hole for every other player around them

like mentioned before, if you can\'t step away from someone being an ass then I don\'t think you should play the game, for your own health.

EDIT : Kythag, what? I don\'t seem to recall replying to any part of your posts or topic in such a way that you can tell me to grow up, as a GM there are points of view, and opinions that must be addressed by me or other GM\'s and it has been done so.

It was a complaint which shouldn\'t have been sent, but there was more to it than that.  I suggest you calm down.
