Community involving - Cardgame

Well ofcourse I am in no position to do anything about it, but still I have been wondering how with a game like PS you could get the community involved with really making Planeshift.

An idea I had was perhaps hold a contest sometime for graphicss and to make it a little less challenging with the 3d stuff I was thinking of graphics for a cardgame.

It is mentioned once that someday a cardgame is planned andThink it might be a great idea to ask the community to send in things they made themselves.

If everyone send in one card the devs could use them perhaps to make the cardset and you have a whole lot of art taken from the community that is in the game.

What do you all think? Good idea? Impossible?

if you ask me it sounds like fun...

Also, i believe the Blitzers have something similar for a few guild members, dont remember too well though.

copyright minefield? Ofcourse not. All people would, as always with such events, have to agree that the entry may be used by Planeshift and no rights can be taken from use in Planeshift and that the entry is of their own work.

Well if it would happen it would have to be backed by the devs ofcourse. If you do it fans only then you would have a problem with copyrights in the end perhaps.

i\'d like to see a game like Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII. i\'ve spent countless hours playing that game both within FFVIII itself and through a computer reproduction.

For those of you who have no clue what i\'m talking about:
stuff like what it is an how to play
the computer reproduction

perhaps we, as a community, can develop a game similar (or maybe completely different) to this that will be unique to planeshift. after all, every world has its fads. shouldn\'t planeshift have one? ^_^

hmm. i\'ve got one game built. but i\'m waiting for a few test results on it to come back.

but, something like triple triad, with a ps twist. hmm.

Triple Triad!  That game Rules!  A card game like that would be a lot of fun...the only problem is that it would instantly make people think of Final Fantasy.  Well I\'m torn...it would definitely add to the sense of community.  I s\'pose as long as it\'s truly uniqe, I.E. nothing like triple triad or anything else, this is a good idea.

Why doesnt the Community vote on style and rules. That would get more people involved and it would create an entirely new game designed for PS from the players of PS.

I agree with Hellios, have the community itself make rules, vote on them, fix them up, etc...

In a sense, shouldn\'t this thread be in the Wishlist?

and of course the devs (Talad?) have plenty of spare time to check the copyright on 50+  cards a must if they are directly associated to Planeshift.

Sorry to be so negative but I would rather they work on the game itself :)

Why check it? If they make it that the ones entering it promise its there own your pretty much covered. If then something is wrong people need to come to you and bring proof first.

Anyhow said it should need the backing of the devs. Doesn\'t mean they would have to organize it, but they would have to tell things like what the requirements would be and such and make things about the entries like whaat I said and have make sure the one who does organize it is to be trusted ;)

Well if the cards are linked to Planeshift then that must bring in the PS copyright holder (Atomic Blue) and for the sake of plausible denyability/due diligence/CYA or whatever you call it someone has to check.


Maybe I should have been a lawyer seeing as I don\'t seem to trust people anymore :(

hmm Ok well as I said I don\'t think it has to be a dev who has to do the checking exept perhaps the checking of the people. It would be a community thing so don\'t see anything bad about having community people. Yep would love to help myself if asked ;)

Anyhow in the end you would only really need to check the ones you would be using in the game not all the entries ofcourse ;)
