Sorry but I don\'t see how anything that contains Planeshift materials be it graphics, place names, race names or any other copyrighted materials, could be left up to the community no matter how willing or trustworthy.

Anyway this is just my opinion and if it is allowed then good luck to all, just don\'t hold your breath :)

Who do you think most of the devs and GMs were before becoming devs and GMs? ;)

Yep communitymembers ;)

It may not have to be with PS content. If anyone has played \"Magic : the gathering\" it has nothing to do with the real world. Why doesnt the community make up a game that the characters IG make up. Like humans made magic cards or solitaire. PS could have a card game that is total fantasy within PS

I think what you are trying to do is a great thing to do.  It gets the community involved in this project and makes everyone feel some sort of worth and take pride into what PS will become.  it would be a great initiative indeed Meriner :).

Hmm your view kinda scares me, I understand most members in the Community do not have certain talents that could help.. but if ideas and whatnot are not welcomed from the community and the community as a whole cannot be trusted then we have no community.. to me its nearly as simple as that :P.

Edit: I understand that some of our members are a bit crazy.. but im talking about as a whole stilll just to clarify :)

You all seem to be missing my point it is not about the trustworthyness of the community it is about protecting the game of PlaneShift. Which probably could not afford a copyright lawsuit.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation here but the one that counts was a developer first and foremost, the community came afterwards also I would not include GM\'s with the devs

*edit typo

a copyright lawsuit.

Uhm is it just me or is that like.... Way to doomscenario.

First of if they check well you can\'t check everything so people can\'t sue you as far as I know before warning you that you are using their art.

Secondly Planeshift isn\'t making a profit here so don\'t see any reason why someone would want to sue for one cardimage in the whole game.

Thirdly Planeshift has been using a lot of art made by people who are not officially devs but who do help there so I am sure the dev team has it\'s procedures to make sure it\'s all authentic and unless I hear otherwise I think that should be good enough for such an event as this aswell.

Anyhow so lets end this part of the discussion till we hear from a dev that this would be a big problem not easily fixed. Perhaps I don\'t know all the steps that should be taken to ensure safety, but I am sure the dev team has thought about it already ;)
