It closed by itself!
« on: December 15, 2005, 05:49:31 pm »
I was following this guy and he walked into this area type thing and he disappered, then this little error window popped up and it said something like \"Some inexpected has happened on plane shift\" and all this other stuff I click okay and then another window poped up saying \"phisical memory dump\" or something. then it closed, I went to open it again and it  had to install itself again and get all the updates. Sorry I\'m not doing a very good job decribing what happened but can try and help me

Um. Woo... that\'s quite an error, if what you described is true. There should have been no reinstalling unless you clicked on the original installation file instead of the game client. Can you determine if that\'s what happened? Disappearing for a bit when walking into a new sector or map is fairly common - should resurface again after a bit - and access violation errors happen sometimes during such sector/map crosses.

What is the problem now? Did the reinstallation and updating work, and can you get in-game once more to play? Have you tried going back to the area that gave you problems, and seeing if this happens again?

Keep the original install file in a safer, least-accessible-but-still-accessible place ;) When it installs, you should have PlaneShift in Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue, or C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue.

Are you sure you have updated? The installation itself does not update the game, you have to run the separate updater yourself.

It updates in the installation (for me) but I have to install again to do it, so I guess I will re-install AGAIN.

You\'re wasting time and resources :P Just run the separate updater and you\'ll be all set.

Hey, you\'re the one who made the mistake of reinstalling several times... :) But it\'s a simple fix - follow my suggestion. Besides, this is a tech demo; and thus problems are a-plenty and should be expected. Don\'t worry though, you\'ll be back in-game in no time.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the the box popped up saying something unexpected happened in PlaneShift: crystal blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 7C00724A

Then says: Would you like to save a diagnostic file?
The two boxes [yes]      [no]

Don\'t double-post; simply edit your last post to add new information, if no one has replied yet.

The error code is sound related - make sure you have it disabled, through the PlaneShift setup utility. While you\'re at it, switch the skin to \"stone,\" just in case :) Causes less problems.

The dump files aren\'t needed by the team at the moment, especially since the problems of this one are known. Hit no.
