I... really don\'t see how mods fit into the discussion at all :P Moogie is the only one who is more or less actively a mod and a dev - and acraig, Talad, and Vengeance have a ton of other things to take care of than play, unfortunately.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I think a writer\'s package would be nice, I too am constantly worying about being wrong on trivial things. But I think the name of the world was something not needed. I\'m interested in a package that details random facts about Yliakum so we can write truthfully.
But I am a writer so I have no problems with things being withheld, that\'s the name of the game^^. Otherwise what would there be left to discover?

My character is supposed to be highly educated, so I think he ought to know what the world is called. (Besides, I already knew  :P )

Being highly educated really means nothing in this case - since characters have no awareness of anything beyond Yliakum :) This is why the issue is about player knowledge and not character knowledge.

Then why is \'Black Flame\' a flase religion born of the the cave outside of Yliakum, an available choice in the character screen? Besides, most of the species came from outside of Yliakum, it\'s far-fetched t beleive that they would not tell their descendants about the outside world.

You could also wonder how come most of the races don\'t even know what are their main cities called like :P

There\'s just too many examples like that. What is known by characters should be left up to players, not devs. With certain guidelines and rules made by the latter of course.

ok well I didn\'t read every post in the thread (i\'m not a good reader) so there might have been word about this in here somewhere already.

Ok I was wondering... if the world is Ohm... and we live in Yliakum... are there other \"continents\" that we might be able to travel to...

From my other point of view... We live in a Stalactite...  That stalactite is known as Yliakum... how can the world be Ohm if the stalactite is Yliakum? Is Ohm supposed to be where the Stalactite is located?

Yliakum is a stalactite located within a huge cave (or big empty space, whatever). That cave is called Ohm.
If I got Moogie\'s post correctly that is.

ok that sounds better to me :)... now that makes me wonder... are there BIG things that might go into the cave and could accidentally \"damage\" Yliakum? how about other Stalactites with other races and what not in them... how about when we get other servers... those become differen\'t stalctites?

How about this: My father (who was an alchemist) dissapeared one day when I was a child and started sending me visions of the world in my dreams. How about that?

Were the visions accompanied by written words or sounds? ;)

You do have a point, there are ways of learning what the outside world is like - but the knowledge is as common as your average Joe knowing that we are in the minor arm of the Milky Way called the Orion Spur. Besides, we\'re supposed to work with what we\'re currently given - and while I too would very much like to ask for more, you have to be careful when receiving \"visions\" of something you, as a player, have absolutely no knowledge of.
