Dark Shadows Recruiting (and new site)
« on: December 18, 2005, 02:29:45 am »
Hello, its Masoj Hunett, leader of the Dark Shadows.
We are looking for players who will help others and are fun to be around.  We have too much information for the thread, so I will give you our NEW website.

http://www.freewebs.com/dsgsite/

Check it out, and if you want to join, tell us in the forums there. See you guys in game :)

The Lore of the Dark Shadows

The Beginning?

It all started a long time ago?

Kloredell was a lush stalagtite much like Yliakum, but leagues away.  It was lush with green grass and thick forests.  However, Kloredell was ruled by 2 opposing kingdoms, Soleil and Nolank, striving for the same thing.  Both wanted absolute power of Kloredell and both wanted to extend their rein out beyond Kloredell to other nearby stalagtites and stalagmites.  Then, the dreaded day happened when they declared war.  The winner of this war would decide the fate of many other kingdoms to come.

The Resistance?

However, there was a man named Fayodin Hunett who did not believe in the war.  He knew that if there ever was a true victor of the Great Kloredian War, as it was called, that many more people would perish and be under taken as slaves as the kingdom expanded outward in its quest for power.  He formed a secret guild of people who felt best that each kingdom shall be destroyed for the greater good, even if having to sacrifice themselves in the process.  They called themselves the Dark Shadows.

They secretly sabotaged each kingdom?s plans.  If a kingdom would get an advantage over the other, they would sabotage them in hopes of the kingdoms fighting to their deaths.  Finally, Soleil had won one of the biggest battles ever, using superior strategy and having expertly trained soldiers, they destroyed nearly 1/8th of  Nolank?s forces.

 The Solution?

Fayodin knew that his band could not stop Soleil from becoming victorious.  He had to do something quick.  He delved into the libraries searching for a way to destroy both kingdoms.  Then he discovered a devastating spell.  One that has been ignored by all for a long time and has been outlawed due to its destructiveness.  Fayodin thought about the use of it and knew that upon using it, he along with all of Klordell would be destroyed.  Fayodin told his son, Masoj Hunett to leave Klordell and never to turn back upon it for it would only bring death.  Masoj left as he was told on a long journey for peace.

Fayodin had his followers protect him while he cast the ritual.  After 3 days, the ritual was complete.  As Fayodin cast the last words, a huge fireball erupting from his very inner self began to expand.  It grew exponentially incinerating everything and everyone in its path until it crashed upon the outer most walls of Kloredell.  The 2 kingdoms were destroyed, but so was Kloredell itself.  Everything was dead and most were in flames.  No living creature walked that land anymore.

A New Beginning?

Masoj Hunett walked for a long time, hunting on the creatures that lived in the dark abyss.  He hoped that one day he would find a place to settle down in.  He drank from underground streams and river systems and took shelter in small caves.  After walking for nearly a month, he stumbled upon Yliakum, tired, weary, and barely sane from the ordeal.  He settled down and started a new life.  As he looked out upon his window in the Kada-El Tavern he saw a beautiful landscape with a diverse cast of seemingly intelligent and kind people.  Though as he stayed a while and became a citizen of Yliakum, he soon discovered that underneath the tranquil vistas lie a large network of guilds striving to become the best.  He saw that not all was as peaceful as he thought, but he did not want to leave to go back into the darkness.  He did not want to see this place suffer the same fate as Kloredell either.  So, Masoj Hunett, son of Fayodin Hunett, once again started the Dark Shadows guild.

Ranks (from lowest to highest):

1) Dark ally - It is called this because these are members of the guild, but not fully initiallized (can\'t think of a better word here) yet. Once they prove that they are active and seem able to be trusted, They have the first part of promotion complete. To actually get promoted to the next level a Dark Ally must show a basic understanding of the game and know who most members of the guild are. I hope you get now why he is called that. (early in the morning and having a hard time finding the right words lol)

2) Shadow Starter - To be promoted, the player must learn the concepts of training and how to level up. They must also have a desired path and set of skills they will focus on and start their training in them.

3) Dark Disciple - Players are underway training and participating in the guild. They understand how the guild works. To be promoted players must train to level 5 in 2 areas or 10 in 1. They must also aquire weapons or glyphs.

4) Dark Recruiter - First level a player is allowed to recruit. While we have a smaller guild, a player must recruit 5 people into our guild. On top of that, they must continue to train and have trained 10 in 2 areas or 20 in 1.

5) Shadow Warrior - Basically to get promoted, a player must reach a very high rank in 2 of their stats.

6) Dark Hero - A player is considered extremely strong and can dispatch large creatures. to be promoted, a player must reach complete training in 2 of their stats. (I think it is 50 for most).

7) Shadow Master - These players are highly looked up to for their expertise and intelligence. They are looked at more than the previous ranks when making/voting on guild decisions. To be promoted, players must max out their major stat (str, end, agi, int, will, char) having to do with their other skills.

8. Demi-Lord - The second in commands, there will only be between 3 and 7 of these in the entire guild, depending on the actual size of it. They can make major decisions if the guild leader is not present/on vacation with a majority vote from them and the shadow masters. (in case of a tie on a decision, which ever side has the most demi-lord votes will go.

9) Dark Lord (me, Masoj Hunett)

Also, Players may recieve rank not only from becoming stronger, but also from helping others, doing many quests, helping guild mates, doing important tasks, etc.
Guild points are given equal to the number of advisor points a player has.

Divisions and Sects

In the Dark Shadows guild, there are different Divisions, to better organize the guild and its members.  Each Division is divided into Sects.

Fighters
The Fighter Division is the division of the guild that uses weapons to defeat enemies and overcome obstacles.  They are the main war force of the guild.  A fighter must be courageous and have strong abilities in a certain weapon and have high strength.  The fighters are divided into the Sect of the Sheild and the Brute sect.  The Sect of the Sheild concentrates their skills on more defensive skills than offensive, protecting themselves.  The Brute sect puts the majority of their points in offensive skills so as to dispatch an enemy more quickly.

Mages
The Mage Division concentrates their skills in the magic arts.  They are known for their wits and intelligence.  They use the magical ways to confuse, defeat, escape, or debuff the enemy as well as aiding allies.  There are 3 sects in the Mages.  The first is the Fire.  They mainly use magic for its offensive and destructive capabilities.  Usually this includes knowlege in the Red or Dark ways, as well as possibly in the Crystal way.  Next is the Sect of the Seas.  This sect is the protective sect.  They are known for their healing, and for their ability to enchant allies for different results.  They are known for their knowlege in the crystal, azure, brown, and maybe even blue ways.  The last sect is the Serene sect.  This sect does not deal with war or battles.  It is magic that is used for everyday use.  Such examples are teleporting, unlock, charm animal, etc.  Followers of this sect often deal with the blue or brown ways of magic, and maybe even crystal or azure.

Merchants
The merchants are a non-combative division, though it does not mena one cannot fight.  This division is mainly about trading with other people, helping the guild gain money or items to support the members, and to help the guild in different ways.  One sect of the Merchants is the Miners.  These people put much of their money into mining.  They help our guild get money and may even help in some quests.  The Traders sect is a sect about trading.  This is where members obtain and sell items for profit for the guild.  A Trader may also be in the Fighters division for it may be needed to be strong in those areas to loot valuable objects.  The Explorers are people who go out and explore the land.  They may make maps of cities or specific places.  They may even make a large world map.  Explorers should have high endurance so they can walk tirelessly.  Explorers also keep an eye out for new quests or jobs citizens of hydlaa may offer and make a list of who trains/buys or sells/has a quest.

Strands of Night
Even within the guild, not much is known about this division.  They are very secretive and do not reveal much about them.  The most trusting members are eligible for this division.

If I may advise something, put some info in the thread anyway. You don\'t need to put here everything, but primary info would be good. That is if you want to attract anyone.
Otherwise I see this thing is already well developed. Have fun carrying on with it.

Personally I think it kind of Mary-sue-ish that your character is the son of the guy who blew uo the other Stalagmite, if you were simply someone who was one of the few who beleived the survivor(s) then it would be a lot nicer in my opinion.

There are no survivors.  If there were, the story still has more substance with Masoj as the son.  In the version with the son as leader, the story can continue but is concluded with the forming of the guild in Yliakum as a new beginning.  With a believer starting the guild, the story doesn\'t end until the leader achieves the same goal as the last leader.

The storyline, in this version with the son as leader, allows for a new destiny that learns from the last guild.  Each generation improves on the last, so Masoj is the new hope that this guild will have more success than his father\'s.

Your goal is a contribution to chaos. By striving to abolish rulerships and order you are contributing to havoc, obviously greater than your mind\'s perception.

OOC: Looks structered enough. Good luck with the guild Shorty13!
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I can be reasoned with. I'm probably right, though.

Some chaos might be needed to destroy the greater chaos, yet much of it will be silenced with law and order in itself.

[Dark does not equal evil.  It is often in games referred to as evil yet not necessarily.  Did you read the story?  The original guild (coming from the story) was called this and for a good reason, now Masoj decided to call his new guild the same name.]
