wipe??
« on: December 18, 2005, 02:43:56 am »
ok i understand the reasons for a wipe and im not complaining but i do have a few questions;

when you say soon...how soon we talkin months? weeks?

secondly when the wipe happens, will i have to reregister my ps account? what about my characters name... what if someone reregisters it first?  im i just going to have to abandon all the rp ive set up arround my main character over the past few months?

thirdly guilds.  will the guilds be wiped too?  if so are they usually reconstructed?

sorry for all the questions, but im a fairly new player and the thought of loosing everything ive created over the last few months kinda scares me. :(

When we say soon, we have no idea. Best guess now is no less then a month, and no more then... 4 months? Eh, I won\'t know untill you do anyways.

There are two types of wipes planned, and both of them should have no effect on names, guilds, or RP for that matter.
player -> gm -> dev -> bum

I\'m hoping these wipes involve resetting all stats, trias, and items... some people have had over 100k at a time and have over 6000 progression points... :\\

I know someone in game who had well over 400,000 trias, and I personally have over 12000 progression points.  But it\'s because we play the game, it\'s not because of any exploits.  It\'s just the way it works.

Yes, I know. The game needs to give less rewards and the current ones need to go away. People are way too powerful now. It doesn\'t take that much effort to get to maxed combat stats, from what I can tell. :(

not much effort to max? You must be kidding,

I mean yes with the better weapons people definately developed a lot faster then expected, but if you say something like that I am really wondering how much you have actually played PS and tried leveling up sword. Rank that up to level 70 and then tell me it easy :P

Ranking up stats well thats a different story, but on the other hand I think most of them have way to little effect for stats compared to for example the effect of swordskill anyhow so can\'t really expect them to be hard to train either.

It should take years to get to the stages that some people are at. Therefore I feel the need to blow up everything and start over again :P

Won\'t people just get to these levels eventually again anyway?  Why bother wiping everybody, just wipe some of the characters you feel had unfair advantages.

Also, what\'s the difference if there are strong and rich characters?   I think it adds an interesting element to the game.

The wipe is not just to clean the levels and PP\'s and stuff. It\'s to clean up the servers up a bit I guess, have a fresh start when they bring in a new version, or when they add something completely new.

Right? Or not?

Silly comments such as these are usually made by those who do not level theyr\'e character\'s Stats and skills up and should be forgiven for it\'s ignorance.

Try it.

Tell me it is easy, and not a heartbreaking effort to max all  skills, after you actually do it.

I promise you, that as the progression is currently constructed, you will never get there.  Not even in three years.

More than 1200 hours, with the best possible weapons helping, and I have not done it yet.

There may be a handfull of players that have managed it...

So what?

Why is that a problem?

There are supposed to be extremes, silly man.

And not even 10% of the players who enter, stay in the game long enough to Max more than a single weapon skill.

You do not see the obvious.

I invite you to re-examiine your assumptions, and to read my prior posts.

I make sense.

firstly, hush :]

don\'t start the name callin around here or someones ogtta clean the mess up, capiche?

secondly, its easy, it really is, i have the patience of a non existant patient thing on get aggrovated easily day, and i maxed everything available over and over.

you should be overjoyed if one of your skills manages to up a level in your entire time of playing planeshift, because in life that\'s how it is, not jumping in for a week and conquering the entire lot.

too many discussion about the overly powerful weapons, so just stop with it.

the problem is it\'s too easy, have you not been paying attention?

aye, extremes there be, but almost unreachable they need to be.

actually 0% of the community stay, everyone leaves and some come back, especially around the holidays, you\'ll be seeing a lot of people around lately that seem new to it all but actualyl aren\'t.

I\'m all for Xordan + explosives = no skills

you do not make sense verrliit, you provide an opinion that merges into a collective of them partially constructing the sense, stop revolving everything around yourself, stop pushing your constant droning opinion on others and perhaps, just listen for once.

oh and for the record, feel free to witty remarks and whatnot, I won\'t be reading this thread again :]

I agree it is not easy to max but i did in 3 weeks, from wipe, PL I hear you cry, big deal you think what you like, i did it so it was over with and i could get on and enjoy the game, as Janner i don\'t any more because of silly people out to ruin others fun.
An example is this screen shot of a hoard, which by its location could only have been put there by a GM or DEV.

So it is not only players that ruin it for everyone, a very sad good bye from Janner.

PS. i am still in game but not as Janner.    X(

This is not a discussion about the fairness of the wipe. This thread exists so that the original poster can get answers to the posted questions. There have been many many previous arguments on the general subject, and we all know how they ended. So instead of having the same people continue their same arguments, I ask that everyone please either argue with those who manage PlaneShift and the wipes (and see their same reactions), or privately amongst yourselves. Otherwise this will get locked.
