You\'ll be much better off asking for help from someone in-game, since in-depth discussions or hints dealing with quests aren\'t allowed on the forums :)

It\'s broken, duee to fact that the NPC\'s dialouge responses haven\'t been fixed.

Something you can ask a NPC is:

who are you?

when trying to communicate with NPCs, keep the sentences simple such as

Bigfoot wants sword
Jeg wants rug

sounds like caveman talk to me....obviously the devs need to improve NPC speech and understanding

Okay, so what happened to the old dialouge recognition? I know the devs had improved the NPC\'s chat abilities before the wipe.

Brintec\'s carpet quest is solvable, I can confirm this. As Y_N said: Keep your sentences simple (in this case, probably simpler than expected). They are often not easy to guess, there are no alternative sencences, and no \"probability metrics\" - you have to find the exact sentence.

Okay, I give up. As far as I can tell the carpet quest is _not_ solvable. Finding the weaver is easy, but then he responds to nothing, absolutely _nothing_ I say with more than a paraphrased \"Duh?\". And somewhere inbetween I saw the message \"... isn\'t a trader\", so it\'s impossible to get any carpets from him anyway.
I\'ve seen a remark about blue dye above, but I simply don\'t get that message as the darned weaver won\'t say anything. What am I doing wrong?!

The \"What\'s up with the carpets?\" quest is working - it\'s been tested by GMs several times. You\'re just not using the right phrase, and sadly the NPCs are picky.. :) There\'s no real shame in asking someone for the exact thing to say in-game, in an RP manner, if you\'re beyond frustrated.

If the carpet quest does not work, even with the right sentence, discard it and do it again. Also check you inventory if he gave you what you wanted after saying the right sentence. I know the game should inform you if you get something and the merchant should talk, but hey, I just tell you how it worked for me and I hope it will work for you like that too.

*sigh* Alright, I\'ll try again sometime later.

Question (okay, might not be the exact right place for it here): Are there plans to perhaps make finding that right sentence a bit easier, like a kind of multiple choice menu? You know, as long as the NPCs are _that_ pedantic...

Never a multiple choice window - that\'s too easy and not realistic enough. But the NPC system will be (and has been!)  changed a bit, to make communication much easier.

Hey, it\'s not that I mind a bit of difficulty. But considering all the futile attempts I wasted my time with earlier today... and seeing that I\'m not the only one by far...

...there is such a thing as \"too difficult\" if you ask me. Even if it\'s just because work remains to be done on the parsers *g*

Heheh, the devs would love to make things as newbie-friendly as possible, but coding an entirely different NPC communication system just as a \"short term solution\" just isn\'t going to happen. Not only would that be a waste of time on their part, it wouldn\'t allow for the testing we so badly need to do to help them out with the actual system that will be permanently in place.

Well, they are improving the NPC dialogue with basic grammar and synonym recognition. So in the future things should be smooth. 8)
