Hardly any images
« on: December 22, 2005, 02:44:58 pm »
Hello,
i got a strange problem with planeshift 0.3.0.12: There are hardly any textures/images, not even the splash screen is displayed. Instead everything is white. Version 0.3.0.11 works just fine, so I don\'t think it\'s a driver problem or something like that. I also updated the art/data/...

I\'m running debian unstable and kernel 2.6.15-rc5.

That\'s how it looks like:

The only image I found that\'s shown:

I hope anyone can help.

Tobias

Did you build from source or did you use the installer?

Also perhaps try Chaos\'s java updater - it works well for linux as well.

http://www.world-of-cha0s.hostrocket.com/PSUpdater/Updater.jar

it requires the latest java 1.5 so make sure you have it - then of course stick it in the main PS directory and run it using java -jar Updater.jar

The problem occurs with the prebuild client and a self compiled one.

If I replace the r4-binary with the r2-binary (everything else is up-to-date), all the graphics are displayed.

OK That is increadibly weird - I have no idea there.  That said, it still seems as if it can\'t find the images - even though they are there.... so perhaps a .xml file likes to work with one binary and not another - but only on your system for no apparant reason... weird xml parsing perhaps?

Thats all code for \"I\'m completely stumped!\"

Could it be that you have an older CrystalSpace version for 0.3.011 installed system wide and it picks up libraries from the older CrystalSpace version when running the version 0.3.012?

I don\'t think that it uses old libraries since i installed it in a local folder which i deleted before installing the new client...
