Development of a Server-Tool
« on: December 24, 2005, 12:29:45 pm »
I searched for a Planeshift Server to play it on Lan or just to have a \"ClanServer\"...
But as I found the Guide how to build a server I realized that it is too much for me^^
It would be great if you guys could develop an ServerTool...
You just click on it, ut up some settings and the server is running...
Would this be possible? =)

Devs are players-online count hungry :P
I wouldn\'t expect them to put aside development of important features just to create something that wouldn\'t be of their interest. But who knows :P

Running such a server with the official art is a violation of the PS license. A unified world is also a goal of the PS devs, anyway.

No one really cares if you want to run a server in-house on your LAN.  It\'s the extra public servers (all the using PS art) that we don\'t want.  However, the DB stuffs you need to get a server running, and playable aren\'t publicly available.  You\'d have to create your own based on what\'s in the CVS.  (which isn\'t much)  So, unless you plan to write your own game, the CVS stuff is only good for testing.  (which is the point of putting it up there in the first place)
