Link's School of Grammar

When we get further in to the game, can I build a school and call it Link\'s School of Grammar and Spelling and if people run around saying stuff like \"I r kill u plz now n00b!\" they will be sent to my school and I will dicipline them properly.

yr i agree cept it wastes time writin da correct spellin 4 everythin. wot if my friend was runnin into da woods towards a big monster? i wudnt sit ther and say wait!, id say w8, this is esspecially relavent to those of us that cant type with two hands.

Good typers type words that are spelled correctly faster than shortcuts. This is so because they are used to typing spelled out words and will take a while to figure out where the numbers are when they\'re about to type a message with numbers after letters to make words. Also, saying stuff with numbers combined with letters will make other players stop in their tracks, scratch their heads, and attempt to decipher your message.

About the school of Spelling and Grammer.... Like Gronomist said, it only takes someone like you running a school to discipline most newbies, running around saying \"I r kill u plz now n00b!\" But what\'s the chance that the newbies who run into your school don\'t pay any attention to you, or block you?  ?( Or do you have a secret plan to prevent that...?

At first I thought this was more tounge in cheek.

If we are serious here, then I hope we can define
ourselves fairly early on if this is to be more of an
accepting atmosphere or the dictitorial efforts of a few.

On the forums i suppose blasting away is unavoidable
byproduct of peeps being peeps,

but game side of the server, I think it might be considered harrasement in some circles.
Maybe my spelling and grammer is roleplay and maybe it is not.  Besides I havent the time to learn the finer points of Old English anyway.

Amazingly enough, that idea is fairly good, bravo Sir.Link.
If people want reality, this is a perfect way to provide for that.

I don\'t mind some misspellings but it gets mighty old mighty quick if its all a person will \"speak\" in.

I\'m sure this is tongue in cheek but if I had this available in game I would send \"1 Agr3 n00b\" to Link\'s school as soon as he begged \"Give m3 mon3 plz,I r luvs u!\"

the fact is, if i wanna use a shortcut, i will. It doesnt mean that i cant spell it right or i dunno where the keys are. It simply saves a lotta time for us 1 handed typers who simply cannot type with two hands. If shortening words is wrong then shudnt using abbreviations like ffs and wtf be disallowed??

I use abbreviations all the time but I try to keep them to a minimum on posting boards. You have all the time in the world to type a message out here plus an edit function so there is no reason you can\'t spell things out.

I actually learned to type two handed while playing EQ, I dont type the \"correct way\" but I get the job done. Point is you can learn and you can learn quick its not hard.

Ah, well people using shortcuts in their posts won\'t make me secretly give their names to Link to discipline. Only to people who usually don\'t use correct grammar I will send off to Link\'s school. If they use shortcuts every once in a while, then I\'m okay. If people always use shortcuts, things get hard to read and I will help send them off to Link\'s School of Grammar. Although it would be interesting to see how Link would teach people grammar...

I do hope this thread gets much longer.
It will be nice to see the personal views before
the game starts.

However, if such is not to be, then if by chance we
happen to meet in game and decide to group, please tell me then if my grammer is not up to your standards.

As it happens in real life, so it is in the game.  I just dont have the time to deal with perfection nor superiority.
