Client isn't working...
« on: December 26, 2005, 05:18:18 am »
Hi,
I downloaded planeshift and tried it, set my account up, logged in, everything worked fine but it needed an update before I could play so I updated everything...
Now the Client quits when I start it up. It leaves this message in the console:

Quote
SCF_WARNING: class planeshift.sound.soundmanager (from /Applications/Planeshift3D/pssound.csplugin) has already been registered in the same context `app\' (in /Applications/Planeshift3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/pssound.csplugin)
Crystal Space for MacOS/X 0.99 r0 [MacOS/X-powerpc-GCC]
Ported to MacOS/X by Eric Sunshine

WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.sndsys.manager\'
WARNING! Crystal Space performs better in 24 or 32 bit display mode!

planeshift.application.client:
  PlaneShift Crystal Blue
This game uses Crystal Space Engine created by Jorrit and others
  0.99 r0 [MacOS/X-powerpc-GCC]
All LOGS are off.
Mounting skin: default
Bus error

Am I doing something wrong?
(Mac OS X, 10.4.3)

I have read the entire thread and tried everything listed. I believe my problem is that I can\'t use the new updater (the .jar file). I have tried steps 2a and 2b but both times it gives me the following error:
Quote

Edit:
I got it to work using the updater-old.jar from the Read Before Posting guide. This was mentioned in another thread and I believe fixed in that version, but not in the \'new one\'.

The new updater does work, you just need to make sure your Mac is using the correct version of Java.

You can make sure you are using the correct version by typing this in the terminal:
Code: [Select]

java -version

You should get build 1.5.0_05-83 or something like that.

Note: Mac OS 10.3 and below does not have Java version 1.5.x
