Getting In
« on: December 26, 2005, 08:34:22 pm »
Ok, I may be stupid and missed something small, but Crystal Blue loads up fine and then I get to the login screen. When here the username automatically is Vengeance. I change it to my username and password for the forums (which I assume is wrong). Then I tried my E-Mail and password (also probably wrong). But both times it does not say something like incorrect username/password, it says:

The surver is not running or is unreachable. Please check the website or forums for more info.

So I check it and the website says that there are like 1100+ people playing. How do I start playing?

(And yes I read the stickies and stuff)

*edit*

also, If this helps answer the question, the only server I can chose from is fragnetics. And I am on Mac OSX and completrly computer retarded.

Fragnetics is the only server currently available, so nothing is missing for you ;) If you\'re running a firewall or router, make sure that UDP port 7777 is open. There is also a sticky in the Server Announcements section, which explains that sometimes the number of players shown online is wrong, being old data. Make sure the current and report times match. (The most players there ever was online, by the way, is just over 110.)

For logging in, use your validaded email address and the password you created :)

I think the first step would be knowing if you have a firewall or router running.. :) I\'m not too familiar with Macs unfortunately, but there is a Mac OSX forum a bit below the Technical Help ones - browse through a few important stickies (and possibly look over a few previously created threads) and see if anything there will give you a hint as to what may be wrong. You\'ve updated the game, right? That could just be the main issue - and a sticky in the MacOSX forum will help you out with updating if you haven\'t.

I went to the download page and downloaded what it had there under Mac OSX. Is there something else to download?

*edit*

I am now downloading Mirror 3. Is that what I\'m supposed to do?

p.s. it\'ll take 2 hours (stupid slow computer).

There are a few updates you have to take care of once the client is downloaded and installed. Check this thread.

About the firewall:

If you have a \"DSL modem\" or similar hardware with a configurable router, or you are in a local network and several people share the same internet connection with an NAT router, then you probably have to open Port 7777 and forward it to the IP number of your Mac.

If you instead are connected via an internal modem, ISDN card, or a cable modem, then your connection may be direct, and you don\'t need to configure something.

You must update before running the game. After a successful update, the file \"data/servers.xml\" should contain a line with an attribute port=\"7777\" - if it contains another number, this file is outdated.

Most important details are already documented in this \"Important:\" thread; you should read it first.
