Again! cant connect to server
« on: December 27, 2005, 11:17:58 pm »
Yes I have read the \"READ BEFORE POSTING\".

I cant connect or ping 203.81.47.7 or laanx.fragnetics.com on port 7777?

But when I go to page/stats, its says the server is up?

Have done all the updates.

Ideas? Im stuck here!

Just a small detail -- laanx.fragnetics.com for me resolves as 203.81.44.229. I do not know very much about Mac, but can you ping it with the normal ping command?

You have now double-posted, triple-posted and cross-posted :) None of these are tolerated in these forums and the effect is actually opposite -- you may get ignored. Please stay in one thread and use the button if you have new information and nobody has replied yet ;)

I do not have any experiences with Macs and it seems that you have already checked almost everything possible without a success. The only thing I can do is to create a checklist for you, just a list of things you may give some attention and double-check that everything is right.

1) Does the data/servers.xml file contain the right server name and port number?
Code: [Select]
If you have modified that file (for example, you may have tried to run a local server), do you select the right server from the list when running Planeshift?

2) Do you have a software firewall running on the same machine that you use for Planeshift? Could that firewall or any other software possibly block outgoing UDP traffic on port 7777?

3) Could your Internet router/gateway/firewall possibly block outgoing UDP traffic on port 7777? According to DaveG, some firewalls allow support both bidirectional and unidirectional UDP. You need bidirectional UDP.

4) Could your ISP block UDP traffic? Some ISPs may do it in order to block file sharing programs and force you to buy a more expensive package if you want to use corporate VPN connections etc.

Sorry about this, was just desperate.

Yes, I have tried with the IP number with the same result.

2) Do you have a software firewall running on the same machine that you use for Planeshift? Could that firewall or any other software possibly block outgoing UDP traffic on port 7777?

The software firewall is off. And I can run Unreal T (use port7777) with no prob.

3) Could your Internet router/gateway/firewall possibly block outgoing UDP traffic on port 7777? According to DaveG, some firewalls allow support both bidirectional and unidirectional UDP. You need bidirectional UDP.

Whant not work even if I dissconnect it or run a dmz.

4) Could your ISP block UDP traffic? Some ISPs may do it in order to block file sharing programs and force you to buy a more expensive package if you want to use corporate VPN connections etc.

No My isp is not blocking the port.

Im stuck here but I belive that is a bug in the psclient.

Anything in the log looks ok except the last row that repeats 20 times. Might be something specific for Macs, but I have now scanned sources for the message or fragments of it and it is not here. That last message seems to be originating from somewhere else than Planeshift.

That message seems to be coming from Java, so I guess you are running Planeshift using PSClientCMD.jar. What happens if you launch the Planeshift client from Terminal without using PSClientCMD.jar?

Why must port 3000 be open?  I just wonder due to my interest in networking.

I honestly have no idea... Perhaps DaveG or stfrn can shed some light?

There\'s no reason whatsoever.  Something somewhere is missconfigured, or they\'re proxying over port 3000 or something else weird.  It has nothing to do with us.
