Completely lost
« on: January 06, 2006, 10:30:17 pm »
Hi every one
Iam new in Planeshift and I need help. First i have to admit the character creation is really well done, I loved it to play around with my backgrounds and the jobs of my parents.

But I am running around in the first city I think its called Hydilia or something like that. I read the player guide, but how can I get spells, and most of the quests I really don?t understand, one guy gave me such a quest: get me \"blah blah\". I answered what is blah blah or where do I get it but every time he said something like: say it in other words.

Then I searched for the sewers but I didn?t find them, I tried to search for some Players but no one was online.

Later I recognized that I am a mage or something like that without spells, but where can you find some???

Please I need help, desperately :(

Hiya! Welcome to PlaneShift :) Kudos to you for reading the Player Guide, you\'d be surprised at how many players completely miss it.

[*]The first city is called Hydlaa.
[*]Spells in PlaneShift are learned from Glyphs - you can buy them, as well as magical training to use them, at the magic shop.
[*]The magic shop is located outside of Hydlaa city - just find the exit gates by a large brown tower, follow the road straight, then take the first right.
[*]NPC communication needs so much work... It\'s frustrating at this point, I know :) You can ask for help from other players though - you may find someone nice enough to give you further details that the NPC is unable to share.
[*]There are two entrance ways into the sewer. One is just behind the tavern, and another is around the plaza. Your best bet would be to ask others in-game for help.
[*]Check this page - 101 players online at my time of posting. Try to catch someone! :)

Well, I can hardly believe this. There are always players online, except when the server is down. Quite likely you will find some players near the plaza in Hydlaa (that\'s the place with the big statue in the middle).

Knowledge is power, if you know how to apply it.

I started playing yesterday as well.  There were around 80+ people online at the time.  That\'s miniscule for a mmorpg, but I understand that it\'s not even alpha yet.  Still, it\'s gonna\' be tough for new guys.  I\'ve played several MMORPGs before now, so I know at least, the general things I\'m trying to find, but not having a map, and the lack of tags on NPCs (how the hell am I supposed to know that guy is a weaponsmith, he looks like every other NPC?) makes it fairly difficult.  More verbose system messages might be kind of helpful, as well, since servers are going down frequently.

Hopefully in the future, it won\'t be graphical tags by the names of NPCs that will let you know what their profession is, but actual props :) Like racks of weapons, carts of food, tables with armor, etc. I agree though, at the moment finding what you need is rather difficult, but remember that this is a social game, and there is no shame in asking someone to help point you in the right direction :)
