Anyone seen The Chronicles of Narnia ?
« on: January 07, 2006, 04:21:42 pm »
Im not sure how many had high hopes for this one.. but I can in with very little expectations... and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.  I had not read the The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in quite some time.. but as the movie went on I kept remembering parts here and there.  Either way I thought it was a well made movie.. and I would buy it :)

Did I forget to mention it has Liam Neeson in it ? :P

I wanted to see that movie. The talking lion I can do without, but the battles looked exciting.

Well... Its a pretty good film, but you get all those people thinking they know loads about it because they read the book but have no idea that there is another 5 or something, read the first >.>

I can\'t remember how true it was to the book though i think they glorified it a bit to be more lord of the ringsish.

My little sister enjoyed it, my dad has been reading her the books or has read them to her. I spent quite a bit of time relating it to WoW... the leader of the ice ladies army is a tauren O.o

Rating:
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

I still have to see it :) There is a really awesome 9-minute trailer somewhere... hm. Ah, here, which looks quite beautiful.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I\'m disappointed that they didn\'t make the magician\'s nephew first. If you\'re going to make the Narnia films, then make them in order. I\'ve read all the books in order recently and as usual, the film is never as good. :)

It would be a good movie to see.. better then you would think :).. and it just goes by the first book.  I really liked it and I normally dont like any movie like that unless its rated R :P.. nearly anyone could enjoy it though

I haven\'t seen it but have been thinking about it...

I read the books a good 7 years ago.

Can anybody tell me how the movie stacks up to the books?

Edit: Evidently, Xordan could...posting when I am posting...grrr...anyways, other opinions are welcome

Yes, very good movie. I applaud the people who made it; it\'s one of the few recent movies-based-on-books that does a decent job of actually following the novel (note I said \"decent,\" no one\'s perfect ;) ) and actually turns out to be fun to watch as well!

I agree with valbrandr, I had read the books, but I have also seen the earlier movies, so I didn\'t have great hopes, but I  saww it and was pleasantly suprised at the quality of work they put into it. Although they did take a few smaller parts out, it didn\'t seem like it when you were watching the movie, the story rolled along well, and the actors were pretty good for child actors. The little girl especially. I don\'t think it had quite as much of a message as the books, but I suspect that would have put a lot of people off, so they toned it down a bit.

Edit: Xordan, I agree with you on not making the first book first, but I hear they are making 3 altogether, with just selected books. Darn, I was ready to see charn in all it\'s ancient glory! I guess TLTWATW is best known, so they made that first.

Edit2: I want them to make the silver chair, the dawn treader, and hopefully extend to 4 movies with the sucess they have had and make the magicians nephew.

I read the book and saw the movie and the 2002 version. The 2002 version is kinda bad because Aslan is kind of like it\'s a custume. And the monsters(birds)were fake.

So there are some older Narnia movies? I don\'t think I\'ve read the books and still the story was very familiar when I watched the movie, which I liked very much btw. Narnia and all the creatures (well, most of them) looked awesome.

Wasn\'t Magician\'s Nephew written after the rest of the Narnia books? I just read it and I think it isn\'t as closely related to the other books as they are to each other.

It was written after, but it explains quite important things, like how narnia came to be, and was meant to be read first.
