Religion in-game.
« on: January 09, 2006, 12:01:26 am »
ok, here\'s what I would like to see in the future (It\'s been sadly missed by most MMORPG\'s out there).

Dieties and roleplaying. I\'m not sure if this has come up before, but gods tend to play an active role in the classic pencil and paper roleplaying. In terms of adapting this to the pc, you could have events like;
If you don\'t prey at least, say, once a game week, your powers (magic and/or special abilities) are weakened and/or disabled until you repent.

Another way of implimenting religion is even more simple. If you follow blahblah the kind, a kind, just and generaly good god, you don\'t massarcare a village for no reason. again see above for results.

And finaly, religion specific guilds. Has anyone In-Game created a religion-specific guild? (members must follow blahblah the kind, or nahnah the terrible).

Just my thoughts,
Falzaek
If I had a little wheelbarrow I could...
Respect D&D, the ganddaddy of RPG\'s. If possible or practicle, offer weekly sacrifices of lamb, goat kids or unwanted childern bi-monthly to it. It is god. It gave thouands of us unwanted hope in a new life. It will Return!

I\'m not-so-sure about the repenting, but I do believe this was suggested a long while back.. Though,

There are plenty of player\'s who follow what they believe to be the act of good - and sometimes bad will, some expressing it a lot more loudly than others. There are a few priests, and worshippers in-game, that I know of..

And, there have been plenty-a-guild based on religions, many of them used to be listed in the Guild\'s list at Kada\'s tavern site.. though I do not know if that\'s still up at the moment. :)

*added after a search*

There was a discussion on sinning and repent and the such, Here.
 And, there was a small discussion on the benefits of praying a while back, easily found in the Compilation of Ideas, for those interested ;)
